Acer Aspire 6920G-6A3G25Bn Reviews: Windows Vista Home Premium 16" Screen Laptop computer

+ Can be overclocked, works well with windows 7, encodes mp4 quite fast

- Not the most portable

+ Laptop is well designed in its appearence key board layout is good.

- A little heavy and when laptop lid is in open postion and resting on your knees can be top heavy. No manual provided with laptop.

+ Great design, features and value for money, I'm really impressed.

- Perhaps I should have got one with a larger screen as widescreen (which is new to me) makes things seem smaller.

- Key board is far too clunky and disappointing when touch typing (lots of letters fail to be entered). It is also quite slow.

+ lovely design, packs a punch, i got the re-conditioned model so at the price it was on offer with the power and capability it was a no brainer.

- battery life poor, but if like me i use it as a replacement for my desktop and not as a portable piece of equipment this is not a consideration.

+ what amazed me with this laptop is all its features like the cinedash controls for all the media, the built in webcam which despite its low pixels is very clear, the bio finger print reader which remembers all youre password for youre website logins and windows and you just have to swipe youre finger over it.
also the performance of it ime a fan of command and conquer and i found that i was able to run all the newer versions on it even with the graphics set to max and there wasnt a glitch or drop in performance

- ive found sometimes the cinedash controls are a bit insensitive when trying to adjust the volume and that also the hold button is quite easy to touch when not meaning to, ive also experienced a few problems whith it booting up into acer arcade

Suprisingly one of my favourite features is the (I thought gimmicky) fingerprint reader, makes logging on to the computer and websites a breeze.

- Not bad as such as I was expecting this, but a fairly heavy laptop, and accordingly low ish battery life (though not too bad, 2 hours maybe).

+ lighter tha expected for the size. Keyboard layout is good and media section very usefull.

- Battery life could have been better.

+ Excellent specifications. Good for gaming, watching DVD's and general office applications

- Battery Life can be low when used for gaming.

+ Powerful computer, good screen and it plays Blu-Ray discs. Media centre is good.

- Body can flex causing Wi-Fi to switch off.

+ IT`s very fast gets the job done - vista has not crashed at all so this is a massive plus - i like the blue ray and the sound is top notch for a lap top the touch controls are nice - it stays very cool - this is by far the best laptop i`ve owned and i have had a few - Acer have got this one spot on as far as Desk top replacement Laptops go.

- A bit on the heavy side and it`s quite a large machine but still portable -

+ It looks amazing! The screen is clear, bright, has a good contrast ratio and viewing angle. The design is very sleak and has some nice touches (such as the media touch panel). Nice fast graphics card that you wont find in other laptops at this price. Bluray and SPDIF means this is a media center waiting to go with 1080p video.

- No eSATA port (i had to buy an expresscard that is fiddly), no firewire (if it has eSATA this could be forgiven ;) ).

+ Bought as a desktop replacement, and has not dissapointed on any level. Fairly powerful, even for a bit of light gaming, though only tested as far as COD 2 so far. Arrived in perfect condition, as new (it is a recon).
Would be well worth full retail price.

- battery life does not seem great, but i don't use it much except to play music in the garden. i did not buy it for the battery life, so can't complain.

+ Maybe it's a little unfashionable to be buying a large-ish laptop running Vista, but for me a cracking, large screen, great graphics and good build quality are what I want out of a machine I use a great deal of the time. So this product I great, I love it.

- Of course it is a compromise. Its heavyish and the battery doesn't last forever.

+ everything except battery life is perfect.

- battery life is bout 3 hrs....

+ The Aspire 6920G is really easy to use, once you've got everything loaded, which took a while first time. Performance is A grade, handles complex games such as Sims 3 easily, multi window tasking is also easily swallowed. Great multimedia laptop, media touchpad is a very nice addition. HDMI output means you can browse HD trailers and enjoy gaming in large format on your HD TV screen. Easy to use keyboard.

- It's a big laptop, but then its' primary function is home entertainment. Haven't fully tested the battery life yet, but it does run down fairly quick if web-browsing away from a power source. The media touchpad has completely locked, which seems to be a common problem to the whole Aspire range, but is easily fixed by unplugging the power source and taking out the battery. Ours was bought as a refurbished laptop. First one had a problem with the speaker, but the replacement is working fine.

+ Blu Ray

- Tends to crash sometimes when watching Bluray through HDMI output

+ beautiful design which never ceases to stun, games play perfectley, fingerprint reader gives aded security, great screen, fast, responsive mousepad and keys, touchpad (cinedash) is very convieniant, sound also feels like you have a surround sound system.

- the charger gets hot enough to burn you, but this is me being very picky, i have no other problems, everything is great!

+ Excellent for all media - music especially. \the sound is quite amazing for a laptop!

- This model sometimes starts up in acer arcade then when you exit that it freezes in hibernation instead of which it should always start up in windows. you can see this is a common fault it you research net.

+ The laptop looks really nice,its cover is shiny but collects alot of dust after about a day.At first the fingerprint detector was a bit confusing but It's really useful now to get onto things quickly.I love the side touch panel when listening to music because you don't have to stop what you're doing to change a song. I was looking for an everyday laptop but I wanted to play the sims 3 aswell at a reasonable price.This laptop is a great entertainment machine and plays it brilliantly,it's also about £120 cheaper to buy reconditioned and has no faults atall! bargain :)

- The battery life isn't very long atall but If you take the charger with you wherever you're going it's not much of a problem. The laptop is quite heavy but i guess it should be because of it's size.

+ Finger print reader works great - can use instead of passwords or to open web pages and programmes. Different sound settings for different things eg. movies, games, different genres of music. Touch sensitive media controls - so cool :D. THE GRAPHICS are awesome - HIGH DEF. Blu ray. Smooth to type, nice keyboard . PRICE was amazing (what i paid from currys (add discount coupons) is cheap). Battery life is adequate enough but seeing as its a powerful laptop I've got it plugged in 95% of the time anyway.

- some media control accelerator thing warning pops up every time i log on, don't no the problem? Bit heavy but is to be expected from powerful laptop. touch pad is to be expected from an Acer so its not exactly smooth but you get used to it. No really major negative points to say really that can deter me from not loving it.

+ Looks fantastic, very sleek, and not particularly heavy or unwieldy for the screen size.
The screen is bright and vibrant, and has very good viewing angles.
Keyboard is very nice, and the media controls on the left-hand side are genius.
Battery life is very reasonable, I get around 2.5 hours on balanced settings.
Performance is excellent, graphics card can handle newer games; Sims 3 plays very smoothly on medium settings, and it can run Everquest on full settings no problem for example. Vista boots up suprisingly quickly once you get rid of most of the Acer bloatware.
It doesn't seem to get hot even with intensive tasks and remains very quiet when under load.
Truly a fantastic bargain, higly recommmended.

- I guess uninstalling all the Acer rubbish they put on there is a pain, but it's a real stretch to find much to fault at all.

- i wouldnt know about any good points because it was faulty when i bought it, i sent it off the next day for repairs and theyve had the bloody thing ever since. And that was nearly six weeks ago!!!!

all in all i am delighted with my ACER ASPIRE 6920

- it would have been nice if it had come with WINDOWS 7 upgrade, but other than that can't find any bad points

+ Very nicely designed - I am finding the Cinedash media console especially useful. Fantastic sound quality. A great laptop and well worth the money....the webcam quality is proving to be excellent even in low light...so far I am delighted with this machine....

- Still early days ... nothing bad to comment on so far. (Although I would have liked some sort of instruction manual included - but that is only a minor gripe).

+ Nice looking laptop, runs very cool so no problems sat on your knee (apart from the weight) superb sound onboard and excellent display, brilliant for the Blu-ray film experience.

- Battery life could be better and its a little on the heavy side but nothing else.

+ Stylish and seems to work well. Keyboard I found to be a little larger than my previous laptop. I liked this feature but it wasn't on the blub when I bought the machine. The lights remind you to turn the machine off so I guess this makes you a little more "green".

- Set up was a little time consuming as this machine came with so many acer additional features. Make sure you want all of the features as they take a long time to remove. Nice wide screen for movies has limited use when compiling vertical spreadsheets. Acer media centre automatically loads everytime you insert a cd or dvd this can be a real pain. The hard drive comes partitioned OK if you know what you are doing but my mum couldn't understand how there were two letters but only one disk.

+ Strong, great design, hd/blu-ray, eye catching media controls on side and you can log in to things with your fingerprint ... very cool.

- A fleas walkman probably has a better battery life, but for me this is a desktop replacement for me, so it is always plugged in anyway.

- Heavy and massive. As in really heavy and extremely massive.

+ What I love most about this laptop is the Cinedash media console on the left hand side of the keyboard. Very handy and easy to use. Great picture and performance. The speakers are good aswell. Love the look of it 10/10 from me.

- Havnt found any bad points a the moment although the picture quality isnt that good on the crystal eye but its fine.
