- vista as am operating system is all well and good if you want to buy all new periferals, my games, word processing suite etc did not run. It would have been better to supply this machine with the option of vista or xp pro as other manufacturers do.

+ Powerful AMD quad core processor, full raft of memory (max 32bit can use), 1TB storage on two HDs with one drive partitioned, has BluRay (but see below).

- Operating system (Vista HPE) did not come with original disk. BluRay drive cannot play latest BluRay disk having additional content - disappointing - will be OK if LiteOn release a firmware update that fixes this. Acer version of PowerDVD clunky to update and not as good as the original product. Graphics card just OK but needs performance of some games down-tuning (eg MSX, Battlestations Pacific). Unit sealed so I can't swap (upgrade) the graphics card (with one I have) without invalidating the guarantee.

+ Excellent all round machine with great features for a great price. This is my first AMD powered PC after 18 years of buying them with Intel CPU's and it's quad-core so it flies along. 1.2 Tb is made up of two hard drives, which useful for backing up data and ample amount for your photo's and mp3's. It didn't take long to set up and it worth creating the system restore disk using the blank DVD's before you do anything else. Don't worry about confusing the DVD drive button with the power button as mentioned in other reviews. It's fairly obvious which one's which! I would suggest getting a screen that's supports 1080p HD, perfect for watching your blu-ray DVD's on the blu-ray drive.

May be a bit daunting for a novice as mine did not have any English manual.

+ Very quick at multi tasking. More hard drive space than you could dream of using.Very good graphics card to play all but the most demanding games. Blu Ray DVD Player as well as HDMI Slot are included.

- Vista Home Premiun Installed, require 64Bit Version to make use of the 4GB RAM. Vista also takes a very long time to shutdown, nothing to do with PC Performance, just a poor Operating System waiting for applications to shutdown.

+ slick and shiny.... oh and the quad core processort, huge amounts of ram and more hard drive capacity than you can shake a stick it.

- you have to burn your own restore dvd's and the manual is crap (but if your buying a machine like this you probably don't really need it anyway).

- Fans are a bit noisy not the quitest of pc's.
The off button is on the top of the machine and is sensitive so unless you tell vista to not shutdown when you use the off button you will accidently keep switching the pc off lol.
Usual rubbish demo software that you have to delete.
No Vista CD comes with machine.

- Power button badly placed. Easy to switch off in error when inserting disks. Unit has a plastic flap which a lot of effort has been put into designing. Manuals don't say what it is for??

- Yet to find any. A lot of people make issue about the power & DVD buttons being too close, but they're not really!

- Operating micro switches for CD drives set to side of computer they are sometime difficult to locate with with unit set low down.

+ Fast, with loads of disk and RAM. Ideal as a server computer (I use it to run 3 virtual machines - although the onboard ethernet is not supported by Xen Server or VMWare ESXi).

+ The processing speed is good. It's good that it's got a blu-ray player.

- It needed a lot of updates from the start, and half the software was for a 30 day trial only.

- On/Off switch is very close th the CD door button so machine is sometimes switched off in mistake but you soon get used to avoiding the switch.

- Slow, no cover on card slots to protect from kids, to easy to turn off from base accidently, comes with a trial version of word, of which all aspects stop working after trial period.

+ Sexy looking machine that is so quiet you wonder if it is actually switched on. Awesome speed. I track CPU/RAM usage with a Vista widget and it hardly gets above 66% usage even with "heavy" multiple applications.

- Only negative for some (not me) is that the power & drive switches are at 45 degrees to front case on right hand side. As you look at the machine the right hand fascia is solid whereas the left has a grill design. Taken together these 2 points mean that they obviously expect you to put the left hand fascia against a wall meaning that the cables would go off to the right or to the rear. Not a problem to me but it might be in some layouts. This is the reason for the 8/10 on design. Small point. 12 month warranty is invalid if you open the rear case e.g. to install a hard drive.

- Acer always clutter their computers up with programs nobody wants. it then takes ages to get rid of them. It would be nice to have an option for a clean Windows install. It would also have been nice to be offered XP instead of vista.

+ Very powerful machine, quiet in operation. Unusual-looking but getting used to it. Fantastic value for money.

- Likes dust a lot. Media expansion bay on front of machine would have benefited from a sliding door. Windows Vista is a poor operating system in comparison with XP. Will probably upgrade to Windows 7 in due course, but from previous experience, upgrading OS doesn't necessarily improve performance. Some annoying and unnecessary bundled software but these gripes are minor - nothing's perfect in the computing world.

+ Its got everything I need and is so quick. The graphics are out of this world. So many USB points.
I can actually watch films on this machine as I have so much extra space.

- Vista - none of my old software, my mouse, my camcorder works with Vista so I have had to purchase cables and software.
Internet Explorer doesn't work, keeps having to recover tabs - may be Vista as well
Hard drive would have been better split into 2 instead of 3 as the C: drive takes all the software and nowadays software can be quite beefy, therefore uses a lot of space.
Not sure its a good idea to have USB sockets all over the place, lot tidier at the back.
