Bought this as a christmas present for my father in law who loves it. Says it has excellent reception (we live in an area where usual FM and TV has weak signals) and is very easy to use. He uses it everyday while out walking so seems to also have good battery life.
I myself was a little unsure about the quality due to its low price but it is apparantly fantastic.

I had no big expectations when I ordered this radio. However, I was and I still am quite amazed with the sound quality and the overall functionality of this radio. My first advise is to get rid of the bundled earphones as they sound rather “thin” and “plastic.” Most of the time I am using upmarket ear-canal headphones costing 5 times more then the radio and it still sounds very good! Please be reminded that DAB broadcasts do NOT offer HI-FI quality sound due to design specifications (only possible exception being Radio 3). There is no background noise, full frequency range is faithfully reproduced, even at high volume levels. I live in area with strong DAB signal and I get perfect reception. The reception is very good even on the buses or overground trains (while in area of strong DAB signal). The FM reception is not as great but still is more then adequate. The controls are quite intuitive and the whole unit seems to be solidly built.
-
This radio, as I understand is common to all battery-operated DAB radios, eats up the batteries when receiving DAB broadcasts. The alkaline batteries last only several hours. I recommend the use of either Lithium single use batteries (excellent performance but rather expensive) or NiMH rechargeable ones - I use 1000mAh capacity ones which last up to a week of daily listening before needing recharging).
My other – quite small – gripe is that it would be nice if the radio was supplied with a lanyard, as there is a fixing post at the back of the unit.

Incredibly good value - when used with a decent pair of headphones, the sound quality on both DAB and FM is exceptional and the RDS on FM is a bonus. For those complaining about battery life on DAB, 2 pairs of high-quality rechargeable batteries and charger can be got for less than a tenner these days, and considering DAB is a high-battery-drain technology, this actually lasts longer than most of the more-expensive portable DAB sets out there (most of which don't even have FM as a backup!)
-
When used on FM with a decent pair of headphones, there is a low level, low frequency "fluttering" sound, which is occasional and I think might be the RDS function seeking other channels. Not particularyly disturbing, and only really audible on very good headphones in a quiet environment. Never the less, would be nice if it could be ironed out in a future version.

Excellent non-wobbly no patchy reception of all available stations in your area. Maybe except for when you're downstairs on a double decker under the bridge for a moment or just serving yourself a coffee off a vending machine and you're standing close to it inside a generally bad reception for dab building, but then again you're off from the coffee machine and you got crystal clear reception whereas your friend with Pure 1000 can't get much off a wobbly reception of just a few stations and you got them all. Equalizer is just perfect!, with other dabs you had to compromise between getting either bass or trebles with mid-range usually cut-off, now set your equalizer to "loud" and you're getting both bass and trebles naturally boosted with a whole mid-range spectrum.
DAB no longer sounds plastic.Get yourself a decent Senheisser Cx-300 II (beware of the fakes, the genuine have a smaller jack rubber casing), and it's just juicy!!
On the FM side:
RDS is quite useful. And then it's the case of the circuits:You may not like it, I personally do, the fm side of the radio ensures that you get as little white noise as possible, obviously receiving in mono is less prone to noise so the tuner seamlessly switches into semi-stereo then into mono depending on signal strenght. To put it straight: as long as you're receiving station you will not hear noise, it's only the case with barely existent breaking-up dx stations from outside your area. On the FM side obviously you're not having digital equalizer but the sound is quite natural.
I also like the design and in fact it does look better than on the picture, and smaller. For this price it's more than just a bargain.
Oh, and I like one touch mute button on both dab and fm.
-
Munches on batteries. My 900mAh last me for 7 - 7.5h. Should be alright with Panasonic 1350mAh ones but my charger wouldn't take it. I'm saving for a Panasonic charger recommended to use with these batteries.
"Loud" equalizer setting exposes compression artifacting and cheap fast encoding used by Kerrang. It's not just those 64kbs mono because other 64kbs mono stations sound fab.In case of Kerrang you can hear pitch shifting which is due to low quality encoding. In this case you may switch off equalizer (solves the problem for a price of flat sound experience), or set it to "rock" which partially solves the problem.

Small, fits in a pocket. Simple display. Like the duel DAB and FM capability. Needs rechargeable batteries but once you've got 4 (2 in - 2 on charge) - you're set up. Price is affordable compared to others on the market. Brand is definitely not everything - functionality is most important and this product scores highly.

-
Slight gripe is that 'extra' DAB data is not displayed (e.g. song title). Definitely get some decent rechargeable batteries though, e.g. 1000ma power output... which by the time you added in the cost of 2 of these, plus an additional 2 as a replacement set, and a charger, you might find yourself wondering why you didn't get a standard rechargeable model.

I have just returned from Bosnia where I spent three weeks. I was able to listen to lots of radio stations even though I was in a remote region surrounded by mountains. I found the reception very good and the radio easy to use. The size of the radio is good and the sound quality excellent.

Eats batteries 6/8 hrs per set. Battery cover seems flimsy,(but hasn't broken). A lanyard would be nice.
