Top TVs for HD Olympics

Armchair sports fans have their first chance to see the Olympics in HD this summer. To get the most out of the experience, consumer review site Reevoo.com has trawled through over a thousand genuine reviews of full HD TVs (1080p), to pick out the top five.

1. Sony Bravia KDL40X2000 – £999
2. Panasonic TX-32LZD80 – £724
3. Samsung LE37A656A – £679
4. Panasonic TH42PZ80 – £724
5. Panasonic TH42PZ85B – £864
Although the Sony Bravia KDL40X2000 was top of the boxes, it was the Panasonic TH42PZ80 that ran away with the prize for best image quality. Shoppers rated it 9.5/10 for image quality, compared to 9.3/10 for the Sony.
Almost all of the reviewers of the Sony TV commented on its great design. However, Sony was knocked off the top spot by the lone Samsung on the list which achieved an almost perfect 9.9/10 for design, compared to the Sony’s impressive 9.5.
On the whole, shoppers who bought any of the top five televisions were very pleased with their purchase, however, there are certain things to look out for when buying an HD TV:
Although full HD TVs are praised for their picture quality, some people do have problems watching football on them. “Ball flickering”, “ghosting” and “the ball split into three” were among the reviews on Reevoo.
Sound quality also seemed to be an issue for a few of the TVs, as well as the positions of the HDMI sockets. For example, on one TV the third HDMI socket is at the front of the set. Some reviewers said this made it look messy when a wire was hanging out of it.
Reviewers had all bought their products from one of Reevoo’s retail partners which include Dixons, Currys, The Plasma Centre, Sainsbury’s, Empire Direct and many more.
