Zanussi ZWD14581

+ My last washer dryer was a Zanussi. I had only had it for about a year but it was a built in model so we had to leave it behind when we moved house. I was really pleased with it so I only looked at Zanussi although compared the price with other makes. We have a lot of washing so I need a reliable washer dryer that gets clothes really clean and can cope with larger loads and constant use. I particularly wanted a delay timer to save electricity, a fast spin, and a quiet and easy to use machine. This washer dryer doesn't disappoint. I have been really impressed with the fuzzy logic which works out how long to wash your load for, and when using the dryer it can be set by time, or for 'cupboard' dry and 'iron' dry which is brilliant. Saves me trying to work out how long to dry loads for - it works out how long it needs itself. I definitely recommend this model, the new technology and features make it even better than my last Zanussi.

- I honestly haven't found any. When I read reviews of other models, people had complained about the 'beep' noise to tell you when it's finished, but I find it useful. However, if you don't want the reminder on, you can disarm it on this model anyway.

+ Programmes to cover almost all wash cycles and temperatures. Very large door and almost 180 degree opening for easy access. 7 kg drum load makes washing the bedding a one load operation - and as bonus reduces creasing on the normal wash load.

- No dedicated Wool wash - but the Hand Wash cycle is OK for this.
Instruction booklet is OK but could be improved for example on the explanation of the Proportional Cycle.

+ Easy to use once you have read the instructions a couple of times! Lots of different cycles to choose from including proportinal programmes for smaller loads. Much quieter than my old machine. Time to end of programme is useful to have.

- Time to end of programme is not always accurate, sometimes finishing slightly quicker than stated & occasionally taking slightly longer. You are limited to 3 spin speeds, the lower ones of 700 & 900 rpm are quite similar & then there is a large jump to 1400 - it would have been preferable for the mid speed to have been atleast 1000.

+ washing times can be calculated depending how heavy laundry is. but can also just put a normal wash on

- noisy when spinning out. drier takes a long time to get things near to cupboard dry

+ Good selection of programmes and flexibility to change spin speed and temperature. Quick 30 min cycle is good. Quiet on fast spin cycle. Would recommend this product.

- The drying capacity is less than the washing capacity. 30 minute quick wash can only be used on a half load. Control panel can be a little complicated - more than my other half could cope with!!!!! (But may have just been an excuse not to do the laundry!)

+ few types of washing ( long wash up to 2hrs for tougher jobs or 45min for super quick),

- little bit noisy with 1400 spin, my husband finds it annoying at the end of each program as the "beeps" continue for too long.

- Some cycles are long over 2 hours (as I was used to my old machine washing at 51mins to 1hr 4 mins maximum. Have found no bad points so far.

- I have no benchmark, but I thought the drying time would be quicker.
Also, there was no technical information about what Jetsystem+ is in the manual. Shame, I wanted to brag.

+ Large drum is great, quiet cycles although some cycles do take a long time, easy to use. Good machine until you need to empty the drain pump!

- Its just flooded my kitchen floor! Very stupid & cheap drain pump cover, small plastic cap broke off that lets you drain out water & the drain pump is so close to the floor you can not get a decent size tray under it to catch the water!!!! So you end up with a very wet floor, bad design flaw! Drying takes a long time. Program finished alarm is slightly annoying.

+ Simple and easy enough to use

- Dryer can take an age to dry items

+ So far so good - no bad points to report
