Western Digital My Passport Essential 320GB

+ I bought this drive rather than getting yet another USB pen drive. Its compact, light and very easy to use and has loads of space.

- Not actually 320Gb, i think its closer to 300Gb.

+ compact, well designed

- only works reliably with short usb cables supplied

- its actually 300GB when you consider all the stuff thats already on the drive when you get it

+ I have stored absolutely everything i have on this hard drive and there is still so much space for more. All six data pens I owned have been transferred to this hard drive as well as all my music and photos, making my laptops work so much faster and its easier to manage all my work now. Great product.

+ It is a great product, small and easy to use. I can keep my files in both computer and the portable device. Whenever I need to sync I just need to go into it as it wont run automatically and click where I need sync...
I recommend 200%...it is great and only 1 USB cable..no power cables required or other stuff to carry around.

- The sync could work automaticaly but it is not a big deal to do it manually. Apart from that, no bad points

+ Plug it in - drag and drop - your files are safe.
So portable and looks good.

+ Transfer speed is fast if using the traditional file manager and not software for transferring data.

- Software can be slow at backing up data and individual files can't be selected. Instead you choose to back-up ALL of the documents or ALL of the music etc on the computer.

- I travel a lot and i'm always worrying about the passport being damaged so i think it should have some armour casing you can put on it if you need to (strong plastic or a gel or rubber glove you can put over it)

- confusing to install, wouldn't sync all my files so i had to do i manually but it doesnt matter it is gd for what it is.

+ Good capacity for an external drive which does not require external power supply..

- after 5 months of use i dont see any bad points so far.....

- instructions could be made a little simpler for the unsure comp.users like myself !!!

- pre loaded software taking up space. WHY?

- need to format it to NTFS. It was FAT32 out of the box which restricted file sizes to 4GB
