Works with Windows XP and Windows 7 (I had read on the web that it might not be recognised on Windows 7, but I've had no problem at all)
I initially bought it to transfer everything from my Windows XP computer to my new Windows 7 computer, and now use it for back-up, and to help keep my hard drive from being completely filled up.
I have 5 WD portable drives. All work well. No problems at all.
Plug it into an available USB slot, and Windows installs the driver, and that's it ! No messing with seperate power, as it's USB powered, so there's only one wire !
I can use the back -up feature in Windows 7 straight onto this drive, and also find it useful to be able to download large files from the net, straight to this drive (so I don't need to download and then transfer later)
It is so wonderful to have over 300gb of files available in an instant, and keep my hard drive uncluttered, and know that if I have a catasrophic failure, and have to reformat my computer, I haven't lost my files. - Bad points:
- None that I know of ! I have 5 WD USB portable drives, and have never had a problem with any of them ! All 5 work on Windows XP and Windows 7 and can swap from one to the other. Just plug and play !

- Good points:
- Cheap for a 320Gb portable disk. The really excellent feature is that it runs off a single USB connector. Highly recommended.
- Bad points:
- However I did have one laptop in about the 20 machines I tried it on that did not work. It was detected but would not come ready or allocate a drive letter for access, a memory stick worked fine, it was just that one customers laptop. Oh it worked when I used a 2 into 1 USB power lead from another device. There is no 5v connector if you have this problem. Otherwise it is hard to fault.
