- SET UP INSTRUCTION BOOK - RUBISH !

+ The design and funtions are great, have been able to record from satellite all my programmes even by using the timer recording. Easy to use once you get the hang of it. The instructions' book really useful and full of information. Don't know why I hadn't bought one before now.

- The instruction book has a lot of abrivaiations which can get quite confusing, but with trial and error and experimenting over a course of a day, I was able to use the recorder smoothly.

- Handbook difficult to understand, you need time to sit and play with the machine

+ Excellent design and very easy to install. The picture quality is superb. This is my first foray into LCD and Digital and I am very impressed. An absolute bargain at the price. I was unsure before buying that 42" may be too big, not now though. Even the rubbish programmes seem better.

- can't think of any with the tv except changing programmes could be a little quicker but maybe this is normal for digital channels.

+ Easy set up and not difficult to use. Slim design.

- Have had a slight problem on play back after fast forwarding DVD recorded on another machine. The sound is muted. May be a technical hitch I haven't sussed yet.

+ Easy to set up, good picture quality on TV, DVD and recorded material. Very quiet in use. Nice looking piece of equipment. Overall excellent once you have the hang of it.

- Menu system is 'quirky' until you get used to it. Took me a good read of the manual to understand some of the basic operation.

- Only has 2 scart sockets and could do with another to allow connection to a video transmitter to allow viewing in another room in the house. Fan is a bit noisy.

+ Very easy to use. This is the first HD DVD player we have owned and definately prefer it as no need for discs but you still have the choice of disc if you want. Picture and sound quality is very good and it is very quiet even when you first start it up. Overall very pleased with it

- The only thing i can say is that i would have preferred the display to have been a bit larger, but it is still readable just not as big as our previous DVD player.

- The handset is a bit flimsy and not as well made as the one from the matching Toshiba TV. Not too much control of external suppliers I fear.

- Digatal icons on display quite small, not good for those with impaired vision.

+ HUge amount of storage. Easy to do timed recordings but I can't seem to programme repetative programming even though the series I want to record is shown as a 'series' it won't do it. However, I am very old and it is probably operator error.

+ Sleek design,easy to program well in advance

- If you record through the 'Guide' button,it doesn't seem to shut down properly and therefore makes quite a bit of noise. Not great when it's in your bedroom! However, recording through the Timer function seems to eradicate this but it did take a few sleepless nights to figure it out!

- I had some difficulty in getting it to record and play when connecting it to my SKY + HD Box,
the instruction for doing this were not very clear.
