+ Good overall picture which appears better again when you find out how to turn off the automatic back lighting adjustment. When it's on it makes the picture fade into shadows when a dark image is on the screen. Not sure what it's supposed to do.

- None really maybe the sound could be a little better but overall very good value

+ Quick and easy to set up. Lots of settings to change picture size, colours(Warmth etc) Sound Very good volume control prevents sound going up if you turn over or when adverts come on. Full power down(not just stand by).

- No Previouse channel button on remoute, too many menus with settings. Very Very Heathy compared to Samsung,Pioneer,LG and Sony(Waighed closer to 50" Plazma I had to move at work)

Expert reviews for Toshiba 42RV555D

TechRadar expert review

Toshiba has carved a comfortable niche for itself as the favoured brand for those who are looking for dependable, affordable audio-visual entertainment. Content to let rivals such as Panasonic and Philips vie for absolute technical supremacy, the Japanese company has been churning out decent, honest tellies that will fulfil the needs of the more discerning buyer on a budget for some years, and now they go and do it again with the 42RV555D. The 42RV555D is the latest addition to the modestly-priced, but surprisingly well-specified market. But can it punch above its weight or will it…

TV Buyers Guide

Manufacturer's Description

As well as Full HD 1080p resolution, the RV Series gets the best from HD content by using 100Hz Picture Processing which virtually eliminates motion blur often associated with fast moving sports action with its 24 frames-per-second display – so you’re watching exactly what the director intended. A special Game Mode ensures you get high-grade pictures from the latest games consoles.

100hz
This system doubles the number of pictures projected on screen per second compared to 50Hz by simply repeating each frame. This process eliminates the flicker naturally occurring at a lower scanning speed.

3 x HDMI

Game Mode

Auto Contrast feature – working closely with the Dynamic Contrast backlight, but takes things a stage further by measuring the ambient light in the room, automatically adjust the picture accordingly depending on if you are watching your REGZA LCD in a dark or light environment. Offering a better picture quality it, makes the TV run more efficiently and consume less energy.
