Reevoo's summary of reviews:

Lots of shoppers love the looks of this Toshiba, which features a large screen size for its overall size, thanks to a very thin bezel. Looks aren't everything, but reviewers think that the 40XF355DB pulls its weight in the picture and sound quality departments too.

+ The outward design and the number of connections. Slim surround and depth. Looks impressive. Still to see the best with HD.

- No off switch!!! Always in standby. Very sensitive to the quality of the original TV broadcast. Shimmering with fast movement (probably ok with Blu-ray/HD?). Gets quite hot? Wish I'd waited for the equivalent Samsung 1080p price to come down!

+ Excellent design - until we saw this we thought the biggest screen we could fit into our room was a 37".
Obviously the image quality is at its superb best when showing 1080 HD images otherwise it suffers like all large screens from a certain amount of pixelation & smearing that is associated with SD images.

- As with most new LCD TVs the in built sound is limited, you really need to add a home theatre sound system to get the best of the Dolby Digital sounds available with HD, Bluray & DVD. Then everything becomes wonderful.

Expert reviews for Toshiba 40XF355D

TechRadar expert review

Although hanging a flatpanel TV on the wall of your living room is a mouthwatering prospect, the number of buyers doing just that is low. However, Toshiba‚Äôs latest supermodel ‚Äì the 40XF355D ‚Äì is dead set on redressing the balance thanks to its record-breaking diet. The sumptuous 40XF355D boasts the world‚Äôs slimmest bezel, making it look like something to hang in an art gallery ‚Äì perhaps why Toshiba has resurrected the ‚ÄòPicture Frame‚Äô moniker made famous by its popular slim-frame CRT sets. The result is a roaring success: the 40XF355D looks unlike any other LCD out…

Manufacturer's Description

If ever an LCD TV defined desirability it would be Toshiba’s new REGZA XF Series. Stunning, head-turning looks are the result of cutting edge engineering techniques presenting an extremely narrow picture frame, finished in glorious piano-black.
