Toshiba 19AV615D Reviews: Regza, 19" Screen LCD HD Ready TV

+ Great picture, do not have any negative points whatsoever. Absolutely thrilled with purchase.

+ Good image quality and sound. Good styling.

- Cannot switch the set off completely, stays on standby all the time (Not very 'green' even though low power consumption on standby). Cannot switch between programme being watched and last programme watched (Could on our old set). Cannot switch between analogue and digital even though there is a button on the remote to allow this (Could on our old set).

+ Purchased to go in caravan and bedroom. Easy set up with freeview. Picked up every channel-even on the caravan aerial. Loads of different settings for sound and that.
Picture quality was astounding. Nice clean sleek lines and unobtrusive.
Locking device on stand for tilt is good and easy to use.
Remote was easy to use-even wifey got it first time.

- Colour somewaht too warm/red, even after fiddling with menu options

+ Compact design with generally good image and sound performance. Set up was easy. The documentation was adequate without being too complicated.

- The need to use the on / off button to switch the device on rather then just push the channel button. If the device was on BBC1 when switched off then if you wanted to go directly to ITV on switch on it means pushing two (2) buttons – on / off then the relevant channel button – not good ergonomics particularly for an older person.

- speakers vibrate slightly when bass boast is switched on, so now leave this off

I have a large Toshiba 40XF355 which has a very good EPG and I am disappointed that the 19" is not as good. If you are watching one channel you can't see what is coming up on the other channels without it changing the channel. This I find annoying and although the set is good, I would be reluctant to recommend it for this reason.

- When changing channel it is slow to change

+ Bought this tv for use in the bedroom (eyesight not as good as it was) good size with a decent picture. Found we were not using it as such, so decided to use it in place of my old crt monitor. Wish I had done it sooner, have found it great as a replacement monitor. The picture quality is first rate and the sound is adequate for what I want. With a HDMI connector it will mean that I will be able to connect newer technology if and when I want to. When not using it as a monitor I am still able to use it as a TV and the built in Freeview is also an added bonus and means that I have been able to consign my not so old Akura STB to the bottom drawer.

- Would have preferred the power cable and moniter cable to have had connections on the side, with the tv controls on top.

+ Great looking TV. Picture and sound good, but not excellent.

- The guide is awful to use because there is no way that you can see what is on all of the channels while watching a programme. A more conventional guild would be much better that displayed 5 channels at a time on the screen so you could compare programmes, and see the start and end times of many programmes at once.

Moving from Digital to analogue easy as you can use the P- button from Prog 1.

- Slow to react to button pressing and firing up.... like it has valves!!!

+ The tv looks good but I Should have bought Panasonic or Samsung models

- The remote is of a old design with square corners. The AV/DT button does not function on this model.
The freeserve digital tuner is slow and loses the signal. Sent TV back to Toshiba for repair. the repair time is too long. Toshiba should have authorised the retailer to replace the TV for a new one.
Also do's not come with a user instruction booklet. Have to download the booklet from the Toshiba web site
