Score 5.0/10

+ Clear screen with clear figures and good colouring

- I have used it a few times since purchasing and the sound has just disappeared whilst driiving but the thing that I find most frustrating is the very bad instruction booklet given with the product. Having never used a satnav before I found the instruction leaflet absolutely useless and had to rely on working it out for myself by trial and error. Friends who have purchased a Garmin satnav have told me I should have purchased one of those and not the TomTom and I am beginning to agree with them!

+ The instructions came straight up on the screen on switching it on whereas with our old one you had to read
the CD that came with it

- It doesnt seem to fasten onto the windscreen as well as the old one used to
It doesnt hold its charge as well as the old one after use

- Attachment device is good, but the clip on to the actual TomTom itself could be stronger.

+ Everything except - see below

- I have had the Tomtom for about a month and only used it a few times. The suction device no longer works and the device keeps falling off the windscreen which is dangerous and frustrating. Is there a guarentee? I did not receive one.

Expert reviews for TomTom One V4 UK & Republic of Ireland

TechRadar expert review

TomTom's One v4 is the company's entry-level satellite navigation device, shunning such features as Bluetooth or real-time traffic updates in order to keep the price down. That said, it's still one of the most expensive entry-level units we've seen. Unlike some of its budget rivals, however, corners haven't been cut on quality. The plastics are tough and the device is compact, making it feel every bit as strong as units costing twice as much. The square 3.5-inch touchscreen display is a lot smaller than you'll find on most of the latest sat-navs, but we didn't find this to be an issue.…
