+ Really easy to use and had almost every road I was on while travelling through the French countryside even the very narrow dirt tracks.
Instructions are clear and given well in advance and then again when you reach a junction.
The advanced lane function tells you exactly which lanes you need to be in on larger motorways and was invaluable for navigating through and around Paris.
If you decide to deviate from your planned route then the recalculation of the route to your destination is carried out in a couple of seconds which is great if you are on a siteseeing road trip.

- Even with the updated maps I occasionally found some recently built roads were not shown and when this happened the device constantly wanted me to rejoin an old road which either no longer existed or would have increased my travel time. But after two weeks of intense use I would say that this only happened a handful of times.
The nearest petrol station function needs a bit of an update. When looking for a petrol station nearby, I was sent to two different petrol stations which had been demolished and one which was shut at the time I arrived there.
Also, we used a couple of toll roads and there was no mention of the toll booths. It would have been useful, especially when leaving the toll road, to know a little in advance to be able to get payment and the ticket ready.

+ Clear navigation instructions (much better than my previous Garmin Spreetpilot i3 - TomTom gives more detail and is much clearer in general. Excellent design with the built-in sucker mount. Small overall size but screen just big enough. Suction mount very secure, much better than my Garmin one.

- Some of the mapping isn't accurate (despite me updating it as soon as it arrived) - incorrect priority on a cross-roads junction near me! Still not figured out how to save current location (on Garmin it was hold a single button for 2 secs, very easy).

- struggles to keep track of satellites in cities with tall buildings, annoying warning disclaimers pop up everytime you set a destination and cannot be cleared until you accept terms. fiddly usb connection

+ This was my second attempt at a satnav, bought a cheaper version first and it was rubbish, it was quicker map reading. Tomtom was great. I have no sense of direction but it never lets me down and even if i miss its very clear directions and go wrong it reroutes straight away and gets me back on track.

- None, if it could make a cup of tea i would marry it.

- Missing new sections of motorway in europe (Hungary) that have been open for some time now, meaning extra time traveling through Budapest centre, which should have been able to bypass.

+ The Traffic IQ function works well and the navigation around the system is very easy, I was up an running in no time. Be sure to backup your Tom Tom device before you update your maps (this can take some time). the traffic lane guidance is also a neat feature. Was nice to learn of the cashback being offered by the manufacturer, I received £20!

- The older XL versions of Tom Tom had bluetooth capabilities as well as an SD card slot for future proofing and expansion of maps.

+ Easy to use, well mounted on the screen while driving

- I experienced many errors while driving, Tom tom pointed me in the wrong direction many times, especially in the city centre. I could not pick any difference between Tom Tom One and IQ. There's no difference in the visual. the picture showed on the box is not likely there's no such lane management as it appears on the box. I'd recommend Tom Tom One, its the same

+ IQ route times very accurate.
Lane pictures excellent.
Clear mapping.
Good instructions.
Automatic map update when you link to a computer also good.

- Quite a few roads in France it didn't know about, even after an update.
Appears to lose your favourites when you update maps.
Took a while to work out how to quickly cancel a route (irritating !).
