+ Took it out of the box, switched it on and it was up and running in seconds, I've used it a few times and found it very easy to use, and pretty accurate.

- Have had a couple of minor incidents of inaccuracy, but nothing to worry about.

+ Easy to set up and use. Directions are clear and if you do not follow the designated route, the system quickly calculates a new route.

- Maps are not 100% accurate. The sound quality of the hands free mobile phone connection is poor. The suction pad holding the system to the windscreen is not that good.

+ Very easy to set up and use, there are various settings to meet your personal needs and it is just a case of going through the menu and turning them on or off as you prefer. The 'points of interest' menu is really useful and helpful for finding things to do in the area. There is also a great function 'Help Me' it lists local doctors, chemists, garages, etc. for all those times in need. Great in an emergency. Connecting to your computer is really easy and just follow the screen prompts gives you further information to add your device or create a back up of your information. There are also new downloads available which keeps your device up to date. The added bonus is you can use it as a handsfree device for your phone, listen to your music and add your pictures to it. What more can you want!!

- Couldn't really find one really. Sometimes if the weather is bad it can take a bit longer to find a satalite, but it still takes no more than a minute. Usually by the time you have got everyone in the car and ready to go it is ready to go. Found the first couple of journeys (knowing where we were going) didn't give the quickest route but after a couple of times using it seemed to settle down - now comparing with multimap it is often more accurate and gives quicker routes. On the whole very pleased with it - so much so have got another one! Would recommend to anyone.

+ Good clear screen, touch operation works well, very accurate. Lots of options for displaying route, easy entry of destination.

- Random routing - wants to leave trunk dual carriageway (A303 in my case) to go on B roads if you select shortest route, and assumes roads run at speed limits when calculating fastest - so neither gives a decent route. If you tell it to go via a point it will recalculate a complete alternative route instead of adjusting existing route, with more random results. FM transmitter is pathetic, so forget running your iPod through it.

+ Fantastic standard display. These range of TomToms are the same size as the XL which is a great size screen. The user interface is as easy to use, as always with all the TomToms, you just can't beat them. Plenty of useful extras including a light sensor detecting day/night and the music facility. Buy a 2gb SD card, fill it full of music and play it wirelessly through any car stereo, perfect!

- The bluetooth naturally zaps the battery so make sure you're plugged in!
Not a negative on the product to be honest, wireless music zaps any battery. Can't fault it.

- Too easy to switch off the Safety camera and not know that they are switched off (nothing on the main screen to indicate this).

+ This is my first ever satnav - and I am really happy with it!. The main thing is that if you should deviate from the route given, it will very quickly pick up on this, and recalculate the route, getting you back on track. Very useful if you are in an unfamiliar area. The spoken voice is certainly loud enough to hear out of the speaker on the satnav when on the motorway, although you can tune it in to your stereo and have it come out of your car speakers (or via an audio cable if you have an auxiliary socket in your car). It bleeps at you if you're driving too fast on a particular road (should you select it to) and warns you of upcoming speed cameras (again, should you select it to). Every time you connect it to your computer, you can update the information on it, so it is as up to date as you want it to be. If you notice an error on the TomTom map, you can even report and correct this with TomTom - including adding any missing points of interest that you feel should be on there. It is certainly worth taking the time to get to know this machine before you use it, as it will do an awful lot of stuff (including being used as an MP3 player or allowing you to make and receive calls on your mobile via bluetooth whilst driving). I am really happy with my TomTom and, despite all the stories I have heard about inaccuracies of directions, it has been spot-on for me so far.

- The battery life isn't so great so you will have to charge it quite soon after using it on a journey of a couple of hours, but it does come with a car charger so no real problems with this.

+ It's comforting to know that I can try to get to new places and not fear getting too far lost, and in most cases get there first time without having to "turn around" as tom tom says when I take the wrong turning.

- It keeps shutting down when I am driving and I have to constantly watch that it does not go off completely.
I have tried to find out what the problem is with this product by reading the handbook but would be pleased if you could offer an explanation. I have charged my tom tom up so can't see that is what is causing the problem.
