Perfect loaf every time on setting 1 'large dark loaf''. I use 4 cups of bread-making flour, (wholemeal and white 3:1, or all white or all granary), 370ml water, 1 tbs butter, almost 2 tsp salt, almost 1 tbs sugar, and 1 sachet of yeast. (If you use granary flour have a quick look at the dough and if it appears too soft, add a heaped tablespoon more flour when the second kneading starts). The dome on the top of the loaf, (however wierd in shape), cut off fresh, is delicious with Danish butter and a hot bowl of soup. The rest of the loaf is brilliant for sandwiches and toast. If you crumb the outside crust of a white loaf in a food processor, these golden crumbs can be used to make the most delicious apple charlotte, and the white can be used for bread sauce or bread and butter pudding or crumbing fish etc. I let the end, with the paddle hole in it, get stale then give it to the birds.
-
I tried the wholemeal setting twice and got a 'Roman remain' each time. When I used setting 1 there was no problem. On the 'wholemeal' setting the dough has too long to rise so it collapses again, hence the small heavy result.

Despite having now tried all the recipes, the bread is poor,it ends up as a rough texture, before we purchased your bread maker we borrowed a friends bread maker just to see if we would use it & to try home made bread,we had no problems & loved the bread, with your bread maker we even resulted to buying a temperature scanner in case we were getting the water temp wrong,i am sorry its just not fit for the purpose of making good bread.

Produces excellent white loaf, fair wholemeal loaf. Easy to use in general and quiet in operation. Useful size. For a small family its the best for the money. Paddle comes out of bread without problem. After 5 minutes soaking under a bit of water the paddle lifts off the spindle without problem. Haven't ever had to use the hook. Pan locks firmly and easily in place and unlocks ditto.
-
Sodabread recipe so far produced bricks. palable but not really edible. Yeast spoon fiddly to use. Cups tedious for flour measure. Better to have weight in oz or grammes and use ordinary teaspoon for yeast. Manual obscure in places eg page 5 Jam What does the last sentence "Bake dough that has been previously raised" to do with jam?

The instructions are very easy & straightforward to understand. Some recipes are included but there is enough flexibility in the machine to allow experimentation with ingredients. Even when I didn't use exact amounts of flour, water and yeast, the resulting loaf was excellent.

The metal hook for removing the mixing arm after cooking is too short and needs lengthening. It is not easy to grip inside the mixing bowl, particularly if you have wet fingers or have Arthritis or a poor grip. The end of the hook requires a loop.

Getting the bread out of the tin is really difficult. It's best to grease the sides of the tin before you start adding the ingredients. Even after greasing the sides of the tin, it's best to let the bread really cool down and GENTLY tap the sides of the tin. The tin easily dents If you tap it too hard,

We haven't had a bread maker before, so don't have anything to compare it with, but we do like the following:
- The delay start (lovely smell to wake up to on a Sunday!),
- The design (cheaper appliances usually don't look this good aesthetically),
- The simplicity of the whole design and use.
-
Things we would like to see additionally (or improved/changed) are:
- A small brush to clean inside the paddle (we currently poke out the 'gunge' with a cocktail stick),
- And a lock on the lid (curious children could - and have - opened it whilst it's rising!)

I really miss not having two paddles to mix the dough - sometimes I get left over flour in the bottom corners. I have to use more bread flour and less plain flour to get the bread to rise and stay risen!

My first breadmaker and have never looked back or bought anymore bread. This machine is so simple and easy to use its really full proof,. Great recipes with instrutions. If you are a first time user like me, would highly recommend.

easy to use/cheap to buy/labour saving/excellent if used just to make the dough and then left to rise before baking in a conventional oven
-

Easy to use following the provided recipes (though it would have been better to provide quantities for the 900g loaf as well as the 700g - you have to be pretty good at maths to convert the quantities to bake the larger loaf!) Easy to clean. Neat and tidy, looks good on the worktop but small enough to store away in a cupboard.
Bakes lovely bread.
-
No indicator light that shows when the breadmaker is switched on and baking.
Top of the loaf always sinks on baking no matter what I do - any tips anybody?

First one had lid that did not sit closely on body of machine. Replaced immediately by Tesco without question. Replacement item performing very well.

Cheap and produces a good loaf of bread.

The recipies in the book don't make a good loaf of bread - I used the recipe from the yeast packet and weigh all the ingredients instead of using the measuring cup and teaspoon. This produces a far better result.

It's very easy to use, looks good.

Quite noisy, finished results not quite as good as a previous bread maker, perhaps its the recipe need to make some adjustmants.
