It is extremely user friendly while being packed full of features. It's my first venture into freeview and also into the hard drive system of programme storage. After being so used to video or dvd, I find the features, such as programme details available on recorded programmes and the facility to record a whole series at the touch of a button, absolutely brilliant.
It set itself up so easily and the whole thing is so easy to navigate. I am constantly chuffed at my ability to pause live telly, and sometimes pause it for no other reason but just because I can.
Please bear in mind as I've said this was my first freeview hard drive venture and I have no experience to compare it to but I think it's perfect.
It has dual tuner so recording two programmes or recording one and watching another has made the fear of switching to digital a lot less worrying. I did wonder how I would be able to still have the choices that I do with my terrestrial set up, and now my reservations have disappeared.
The hard drive is pretty big and more than adequate for the average household. There is a really useful indicator for space used for recordings, space used for future preset recordings, and space left for use.
When your hard drive is full you have the facility to archive any recordings you want to onto an external video or dvd recorder.
You have picture in picture and you can swap from one to the other. You can set reminders for programmes you want to watch but not record.
In all I am extremely happy with this unit and would definitely recommend it to anyone.

The unit has frozen twice in a month BUT I'm convinced it's because i'm not allowing the unit to download updates for the software as I very rarely have it on standby which is necessary for the downloads to happen.
I now upgrade the system regularly manually and so far have encountered no further problems.
When the system has frozen I have just 'turned it off at the mains, left it for a few moments and switched it back on again. My recordings have still been there, it is all back to normal and everything is fine.
Although the menus on the unit are quick and responsive I find the programme guide very slow. but as I've said i have no idea whether this is standard programme guide behaviour or unique to this unit.

It would have been absolutly perfect if it also had a DVD player as it would save having another unit to watch
hired or bought films ect.

Score 10.0/10+ So easy to use and I have recomended it to all my friends, two of them are going to buy the recorders after xmas. Also we do not need a video recorder or dvd recorder any more thus doing away with a lot of messy wires.
