+ Open source software is always being improved. It's very easy to use email and browse the web. Comfortable keyboard & touch screen combination makes it practical and user friendly. Huge range of 3rd party applications and functions can be added.

- Bluetooth doesn't support file transfer/streaming. Poor standard of built in video support- ie no Flash player, no Avi/Div X support. Limited battery life. Address book can't be imported easily from another phone/memory card.

+ Basically I have finally found a device that can replace a laptop. Always on internet, GPS and lots of useful software.
First smartphone that felt like a computer to me.

- Very few - think volume buttons are a bit to easy to hit unintentionally. Android OS still needs some work for stability.

+ great user friendly keyboard, screen does not lag when moving it, stylish, minimal call button, all round great phone, free 2gb mini sd card can't go wrong!!!

- tab covering memory card is quite tough to get out if you have not got nails, due to the G! being a BETA phone the constant upgrade of software can be annoying, big screen can easily crack if in your poclet and hits something with an edge!!!!!

+ The Android operating system will eventually do well; I'm sure of it.

- Screen is infuriating when you have big fingers like me, and to enter any text you have to flip out the keyboard. Cut and paste work, but there are no easy ways to select words or groups of words, so any editing is effectively impossible. For me, the clumsiness of editing killed this phone dead. I like to write notes and edit them on the move. On the G1, it's just not possible to do that with any kind of ease.

+ Tons of features. Free apps. The ability to write your own apps.

- Battery, though using power manager app helps. It is annoying not to have the dialler screen when phoning, if you need to use a menu system you need to open the phone.

+ Really love being synced with my Google Account, e-mail, calendar and contacts, just works, fantastic.

- battery will be lucky to last a day. sad face.

+ the phone is easy to use, leading to me wanting to use the phone more because of the features, installing the aplications is very easy. i would recomend this phone to anyone,

- the battery life isnt all that good, when first experimenting with the phone i would suggest leaving on charge as the battery can run out in a matter of hours, but under normal use this will last all day. i would suggest loading some of the phone monitering applications onto the phone to help preserve the battery life

- needs an onscreen keyboard for call centre menus etc, battery life is very poor letting the whole phone down

- Battery is not great, but not as bad as some people are making out.

- all software installed on phone memory only, camera is poor quality and the camera has almost no options to change settings.

+ nearly everything. even the battery life is dealable with once you've installed Power Manager.

- battery life can make you goosey about turning on the gps. The standard music player makes a good noise but is very feature poor.

+ Very stylish, easy to use and instant access to e-mails and internet with full screen pages.

+ Email, Messaging are excellent, as is google-maps.Browsing is an excellent experience.
Lots of applications available in the store, but some are a mixed bag.
Sync of email,contacts and calendar with google infrastructure is good.

- IM is slightly poor in that only supports Google Talk out of the box.
Battery takes a hammering if used alot, and you will use it alot more than a normal phone.
You will need to buy a case, the sleave that comes in the box is padded, with no holes, so you can't hear it ring or vibrate.

- Battery life when browsing could be better

+ This phone's real-time synchronisation with Google's email, calendar, maps and talk is a real boon to me. There are some nice games and Apps Google/Android market place. Some use the phone's compass and tilt sensors.

- Battery life is OK for me as a medium user (2-3 days) but will it be all right after 18months? Touch screen doesn't work well/at all with a stylus. This is not a problem - but I'm used to PDAs.

I got my partner one so now we IM rather than txt.
The Google software is easy to use as is the phone!!
Android looks like a good platform that will grow with the devs and updates.
Overall I'm happy with the G1

- None except the battery life which is on the poor side but I can live with it.

- no bluetooth phone transfer / connection, and sometimes it's too easy to press enter rather than delete

+ good quality screen, ease of use with qwerty keyboard, synchronization with email and contacts

- Poor battery life, lacking in software and extended menus, connectivity (bluetooth) needs more features supported, no picture editing software, poor quality pictures when setting as background -for a good quality screen the images become distorted and out of focus even if they are full size HD images from a camera!, even though its a brand new product it still freezes!?!

+ It's a fantastic web browser and it is easy to send receive emails and set up email accounts. It hs a great application store with some awesome free applications which are simple to download and use.

- Battery life and t-mobile 3g coverage could be better.

+ Can do anything on it, many programs are available like a Windows Mobile phone.
Syncronise contacts/email with google rather than outlook on a pc. So of course these are automatically
done over the air..so no more manual backups!!!!

- 1) Battery life but that is the same with all HTC phones. 2) Speaker phone is ok, but too quiet. Need one like the Nokia N95. 3)

- Batter life extremely short. especially if running wi-fi or gprs. no on-screen keyboard option.

+ The operating system is developed, and created by one of the greatest companies, and therefore we know it'll be reliable! Even when my MP3 player is dead, I have a way of playing my music. The internet browser, even though it could use a little work, is great for on-the-go.

- There is no video recording, flash support, things that most people couldn't live without.

+ Ease of use and ability to check email and web at any time.

- As already pointed out the battery life is poor and it would be nice if the screen re-oriented itself as you rotate the unit (ala Iphone)

+ Has everything I need. Email features are good. Web browsing is good. Music player is good (could be more to it though), Video plays nicely (with 3rd party software and video converter software on my pc). The screen is fast and all functions work without delay. It runs on Android Linux!

- Battery is awful and I mean AWFUL.

+ Android market has lots of new programs every week. Menus are quick to navigate.

- Battery doesn't last more than a around 5 hours of constant use. But if you use it for that long just go home and sit at a PC.

- Lack of file manager, can't save files easily from email. Very poor pop3 function. Very Very poor battery life. Inability to switch between running apps. Did I mention the poor battery? I can flatten it in an hour or so intensive use. Missing PDF viewer. Missing desktop sync. Camera not very good. Needs work on integrating cut/paste etc.

+ Easy to use and set up with massive developer support. Love the keyboard and find it easy to rattle of text messages

- Battery life is awful. Eg, 2 hours worth of web-browsing using 3G (with wifi, gps etc all turned off) wiped out a fully-charged battery.

+ The phone is a nice size and weight, the keyboard is really easy to use and the web browsing is extremely fast. One of the best features is the synchronisation with Google services, getting a notification when you get a new email and synchronising GMail contacts has proved most useful.

- The worst feature (or lack of) is that you cannot share files via bluetooth.

+ The phone has some really great applications similar to the apple store for the Iphone, and it is easy to use and looks pretty too! the email function (the main thing about the phone)is simple to figure out and use but sometimes it is hard to write to people that have an _ in the message

+ Awesome phone, does everything, maybe not out of the box, but the free market place applications cover the rest of the bases! You will appreciate a full QWERTY keyboard for texting, it might not look as cool as a touch screen keypad but it is 4x as fast, easily.

- Battery life too short, doesnt last very long at all if web browsing for long periods of time.Say 4 hours or so. If general phone use, it can last me 9 hours or so, can charge from usb and being a computer geek, i am never really far from one for longer than the 9 hour period. Screen squeeks when shut and pressed on the bottom right corner.

+ Android is just an exceptional platform which deserves to be the de facto standard for Mobile O/Ss. The phone is a great sign of what's to come. Very robust for a touch phone. IMAP email works well - perfect substitute for PUSH mail (mine's on 5 minute updates) alternatively for true push, just forward all received mail to your g(oogle)mail account. Loads of application freedom (liberty and gratuity), and SDKs if you want to get stuck in yourself.

- Battery life extension would be welcome. Standby life is great, but the phone begs to be played with so you'll find that the browsing, games and GPS will munch through the battery several times a day without a little self-control. No video, massive shame. And somewhat bulky as you'd expect with the keyboard. Even so, still the best phone on the market

+ VERY Versatile! - I use it to access my various Instant messenger clients - Just downloaded the Meebo client as the UK edition does not come with MSN, Yahoo or AIM built in (shame but no problem as Meebo solves that and it's free). The google maps is exactly as it is on your PC which is excellent! Hell I love everything about this phone so far and I have had it about a month

- only draw back I find is the battery life. lasts about 7 to 8 hours, but thats because I have a lot of apps that require internet access, and having yoru GPS turned on all the time will help drain it faster, but I can charge it at work anyway via the USB data transfer cable that comes with it so its no problem really.

+ fantastic features,very easy to read,use & connect to other devices,i love the swivel out keypad,every one of my friends,now wants one,im getting fed up with them pretending that there phone isnt working properly,and wanting to use mine, i should get commission on the amount of times i have gone through all the features,I LOVE IT.

+ Looks really stylish. Very easy to use. Good applications - Maps is excellent.

- It has no video camera. The camera makes a shutter noise whenever a photo is taken which cannot be turned off. Quite large in size. Can'r turn the whole phone on silent at the same time. e.g. calls as well as music. No screensaver - screen just switches itself off.

- The battery life is very short if I was browsing the web for 15-20 minutes the battery would die down.

+ Really easy to pick up and use. Keyboard is comfortable and miles better than rubbish touchscreen keyboards. Loads and loads of fun and useful apps available on the Market. Being able to be online all the time and not worry about it being added to the bill means I can be connected to firends around the world easily.

- Battery life isn't great. Have to be careful how much I use it for fun things like games and such. Sometimes have to charge it multiple times a day.

- it didnt have a vidoe camera and i wasnt too please with the bluetooth because i wasnt able to send and recieve messages, file, downloads etc.

+ It looks trendy and some parts of it are easy to use. The browsing and emails features are great and were very easy to set up. The music downloads sound is of good quality and the best thing for me is the keyboard. Easy to send messages and emails.

- The battery life is dreadful I am forever charging it up and to be honest have even thought about getting a different phone. Not good for someone with a busy life style that always has to think about charging it up. Also not easy to keep pictures that are sent or numbers to keep in your contacts.
