Fantastic out of the box experience, very easy to get the hang of it - within minutes I was checking my email and browsing the web. Coverage has been great, and the keyboard is very useful. Massive amount of free downloadable add ons via the andriod market... games and applications galore.
Great quality screen, good bat life considering all the features. Web and walk package came free and is fab.
Tiny joystick is great for games and navigating. Could easily replace your laptop for short trips if you use google docs or similar. Great phone for the price, more fun than a blackberry and easier to use than the iphone... but I bet the G2 will be better.
-
Had to call to have the data package switched on before the phone would connect to the web.
Design is functional rather than slick, could do with a touch screen keyboard for quick one hand texts - I'm sure this will be an add via the andriod market soon anyway. Not microsoft friendly. Has the feel of a beta device, but still is really really really good value and versitile lol.

1 - battery life isn't that great-seem to have to charge it everyday, sometimes more than once!
2 - tried to use personal pics as wallpaper but can't seem to get them to shrink to fit the screen. ok, i'm still trying to get to grips with some aspects!

Score 7.0/10+ Very simple to use, relatively fast speed on internet
- It uses up a lot of the battery life very quickly and although I do like the touch screen features, I can be annoying when you're carrying it in your pocket or bag as it would click onto something unintentionally.

Score 9.0/10+ I love this phone! It's always connected to the internet, which is easy to use and relatively quick too. Although the phone is very easy to use I'm always finding new things I didn't notice before. The screen size is huge, the nice thing about this phone is how personalised you can make it look. Text messages are displayed in a conversational format, which is great. No problems with the touch screen so far.
- The shutter on the camera is quite slow so you need to stay very still whilst taking photos. My roller ball is very sensitive and sometimes moves very quickly whilst using it to browse the internet. Deleting one-off text messages is a bit of a pain. Deleting a whole thread is easy, but each time you delete one message it returns you to the bottom of the thread and frequently hasn't deleted the message you actually selected, but another one instead...very irritating!! Despite that, it's still a great phone and I love it!

Score 8.0/10+ When you go on the android market, you can download someone the most amazing applications (for free!!!). Everyone i have shown my new phone to, have instantly said they want one. in fact my partner tried to cancel his blackberry contract to get this phone with in 5 minutes of watching me play with it.
- The battery life is terrible. It really is the only bad point of the phone, they should bring out a stronger battery or a extra gadget or something for it that you can recharge the battery when needed.

Score 9.0/10+ An excellent phone overall as the good points out view the bad points. To begin with, the design on the phone in pictures doesn't look too great. However, as you get a hold and feel of it, its actually a pretty nice design. The qwerty keyboard flips really well and the ease of the use of buttons is exceptional. Some do complain that the keys are a bit hard to see in the White G1. However, to you really get used to where the buttons are in a week or so, so you hardly look at the keypad after a while when you type. The touch screen is very responsive just like the Apple Iphone. This phone is equally similar to the apple Iphone but to top it off, the Android software allows you to install many programs onto your phone which makes it ever so incredible.
- Hmmm theres not many bad points of this phone. Only two that i can think of. First one being the definite battery life which is really below standards. If you are going to be a frequent user of web browsing or listening to music, then im afraid you're going to have to charge your phone everyday. In addition, upon installation of applications, they get installed on your phone memory instead of your micro sd card. Therefore, you have a limited cappicity.

Score 3.0/10+ Large screen, easy to use for web browsing, nice user interface.
- Appalling battery life. GPS is essentially unusable as it drains the battery in a few hours. Bluetooth does similar. Barely lasts a working day even with light use and many features switched off. Even with screen locked, music player cuts out and unpredictably skips to different tracks sometimes.

SO many applications, most of which are free and many of which are brilliant;
The 3 modes of input (screen, trackball, keyboard) give absolute flexibility;
Fantastic web browser, as good as any desktop browser.
- The battery life isn't brilliant - you need to make sure you disable functionality you don't need if it's to last a day. Fortunately there are apps that will do this automatically depending on battery level, your location, time of day...

The G1 is a nice size and weight, the touch screen is nice to use and the display is fine - works well even in bright sunlight on the dimmer settings.
The Android Operating System is really good, and is specifically what attracted me to the G1 over other devices available. Although there are not yet huge amounts of applications available, the features of the G1 (touch screen, compass, accelerometer, gps, 3g, etc) provide a lot of potential for smart developers to build really great things.
-
The front four round buttons are flat against the case surface - this makes it difficult to identify where they are without looking.
The block that these buttons are on is a little obtrusive when trying to use the keyboard, but ok - however, when a USB device is attached (charger, headphones, etc) it is *very* difficult to type properly.
The keyboard has no cursor keys, requiring you to use the trackball for navigation - however, the trackball can be a little fiddly when you're not paying attention.
The "menu" key on the keyboard is where the shift key *should* be - and it took a long while to get used to the shift key being down below.
The space bar is also too short - only two keys width, when three or four would have been more sensible.
The speaker is on the *rear* of the device, next to the camera lens, which muffles sound from music/videos, especially when the device is on a flat surface.
As both the charger and headphones use USB, you cannot use both together - the device does not come with an adapter for this as you would expect.

If you already use gmail, google calendar and contacts, then the simple sync makes it a great device for extending them into mobile.
Personally I like the fact it has a "real" keyboard, plus a trackball, plus the touchscreen - much more flexible than having to do everything via touch.
Easy to use and to customise, plus the Android market is starting to have some interesting applications to add.
-
Battery life isn't great if in a poor signal area and using lots of functionality.
removable bits - SD card cover, USB cover and back panel - all feel flimsy.

Score 10.0/10+ this is truly an amazing device, so much more than a phone, it's literally like a small pc, and if you use gmail and other google products online, you are completly insync with all of your email and etc. there are many features of this phone to love, one of the main ones is the keyboard, i don't have slender fingers, but typing on this full qwerty keyboard is very easy. and among other things to credit is that the g1's operating system, Android, because it is completly open source it can be changed by anyone and you can download many free apps made by people everyday, this is truly a remarkable device that i'd definatly reccomend this phone for anyone, far better than the iphone in my opinion.
- one thing that i'd like to be improved on the phone is the battery life.

- Too many control buttons, as we know, one is enough.
- No proximity sensors, sends dial tones when held to ear.
- E-mail is a shame, flattened hierarchy of folders, messages are not marked read when read, contents are sometimes not displayed, cannot move or delete messages, reply or compose not possible for people with accented characters in their names etc. etc.
- Contact list cannot handle companies, does not display company names, only the numbers in the list.
- Low quality build, I am afraid it will fall apart in the next coming days.
I ask myself, did Google actually look at the Blackberry and the iPhone before releasing a product that is lightyears behind the competition?

Score 9.0/10+ I have tried almost all the latest phones in the market these days, but trust me I have never saw a phone which works that good for the internet.
- I dont know what was in the mind of the makers of G1 when they were making the phone, I think they forgot that "its a complicated phone and it needs a bigger battery". The battery is even worse than the i-Phone3G!

+ great to have the internet to hand constantly
- the battery life is poor, you can use the internet for 5 mins and you have used half of your battery life up. so needs constant charging.

Score 9.0/10+ where do i start, its simply a brilliant phone. everything works well and the email facility and texting on a full size keyboard is a dream. just waiting for the software upgrade to see what else this thing can deliver.
- battery life is not too good and needs charging every day. Would have liked to see 16/32Gig as standard memory built in with the option to add further 16/32 gig cards. Headphone socket is also a little bit of an oversight but no doubt someone will make an attachment. I would also like to see the support of two sim cards for those of us that travel to the US or Europe.

- when you open the phone to type on the keyboard it is hard to reach the right side of the keyboard because of the menu buttons and navigation ball area is in the way
