Some features, such as timer are buried behind a large number of menu's and sub menu's - Also text is extremely small on some menu's - Not for those with poor eyesight!

A great picture with built in freeview. All the connections you would need from a small screen LCD. Quite a heavy RRP price but readily available at a considerable discount making this a great choice for a bedroom TV.
-
None really. If I had to be picky I would say that the Freeview menus are not particularly fast to navigate and there is a very faint sound from the TV when it is off. Certainly nothing to stop this television being a superb all rounder.

Steady, clear picture on digital with excellent contrast and highlights. Sound fairly rich and detailed, but rather two-dimensional; needs external speakers for best effect. Good reception and clarity on digital radio stations ( a pleasant bonus when working and distraction of visuals not wanted). Appears to be soundly engineered - first set of this kind so nothing to compare with in terms of materials and durability. Sets up easily. Good to have 2 scarts and hdmi. Hope it will be worth the extra money!
-
Rear a/v connections can be fiddly. Analogue picture can be slightly 'wet' and smeary, not great on sports.

Expert reviews for Sony KDL20S2030
TechRadar expert review
This 20in LCD set from Sony is one of an increasing number to boast HD-ready specs, which means you can get crisp hi-def pictures in the bedroom, kitchen or anywhere you like.To make this possible, the KDL-20S2030 boasts a widescreen resolution of 1366 x 768 plus an HDMI that can accept 1080i and 720p pictures. This is joined on the rear panel by component video jacks, which also supports hi-def, two RGB-capable Scarts for your standard-def kit, and a PC VGA input. The KDL-20S2030 is stylish in a understated sort of way, with a smart black and grey colour scheme but no eye-catching…

TechRadar expert review
An expensive choice if ever there was one, Sony's KDL-20S2020 needs to go some if it wants to win us over. Things don't start well - its design is disappointing, and its monotone, plasticky, grey finish and uninspired lines really fail to excite. Its rear panel looks more promising, though, housing as it does both HDMI and component video connections capable of receiving high-def sources. Combined with the 20S2020's widescreen shape and native 1,366x768 resolution, these jacks make the TV HD ready. Also bringing a smile is a D-Sub PC jack, two Scarts rather than one and a CI slot for…

Screen Size in Inches

20
Screen size is measured diagonally from corner to corner.
Type of Screen

LCD
Most small flatscreen TVs have LCD screens. Some larger TVs have plasma screens. Some very new TVs have LED screens. Traditional TVs are called Standard or CRT.
HD TV

HD Ready
‘HD Ready’ is a Europe-wide standard designed to made HD technology less confusing. HD Ready TVs must have
• Minimum vertical resolution of 750 pixels (in widescreen format)
• Ability to display 720p and 1080i formats
• An HDMI or Digital Video Interface (DVI interface)
Full HD is a higher standard. Full HD TVs have screen resolutions of 1080p and can output at least 24 frames per second.
Full HD is becoming common, but you won’t see Full HD on normal TV channels for a long time, so it remains optional for many people.
HDMI Interface

1
Like a scart interface but capable of carrying HD signals from or to other devices. You’ll need these to link your Playstation 3 or your Blu-ray player to your HD-ready TV.
Number of Scart Interfaces

2
Scart sockets are places where you can connect other devices to your TV. If you already have a DVD player, a VCR and a Playstation you might want to make sure your new TV has enough Scart interfaces so you don’t have to keep crawling round the back of the TV.
Frequency (Hz)

50
A TV’s frequency is how often the picture is updated per second, and is measured in Hertz (Hz). A higher frequency, such as 100 Hz, means that a TV is more likely to show fast-moving images with high detail.
Contrast Ratio (X:1)

1200
This figure is designed to tell you how much difference there is between dark and light colours on the TV. It is quoted as a ratio, between the brightest white and the darkest black. 500:1 means the brightest white is 500 times more bright than the darkest black. Plasma screens have historically boasted better contrast ratios than LCD screens.
Screen Resolution (pixels)

768p
The number of pixels the screen has. The more you have, the more detail the screen can display, given a high quality source.
A breakdown of resolutions can be found on Wikipedia here

Also known as the viewing angle, it’s a measure of how good the picture looks when you are not face on to the screen. Higher is better.

16:9
This is a ratio of the horizontal to the vertical size of the screen. 16:9 is standard widescreen format for TVs, replacing the older 4:3 format.
Brightness in Candela per square metre

450

Brighter TVs, such as LCDs, tend to provide a better experience in lighter rooms, whereas TVs with a lower brightness, such as many plasma TVs, are often better suited to darker rooms.

Yes
If you’d like to use your TV as a PC monitor you’ll need to make sure it has a port to allow you to connect it. This is usually a VGA port, but some TVs include a newer DVI port. Adaptors are availible to allow VGA to DVI and vice versa.
