Sony Bravia KDL-40Z5500 Reviews: Bravia, 40" Screen LCD Full HD 1080p TV

+ The TV is everything I wanted and in choosing one of the best currently in the market place for this size and technical specification. I hope it lasts as long as my last TV which incidently cost almost the same as this one but was purchased just over 10 years ago. To me that says value for money.
Also this new one is sleek and chic whereas the old one was the size of and weighed almost as much as a Volkswagon

- My other kit at this moment in time : Sky box, DVD player and of course the video player / recorder are all old school (SO LAST CENTURY) that they are a warp drive away from HD quality so it'll be a while before the full quality of the TV can be realised. Keep buying the lottery tickets.

+ Sound quality as good as any I have heard from a flat screen tv. Superior picture

- Manual both on screen and off is a poor advert for all the features and workings of this tv.

- Sound quality not great with no ability to tune frequencies seperately - so buy an amp and get cinema.

- Very disappointed it doesn't play AVI files. It has DLNA enabled but doesn't allow one of the most common video file types (AVI) to be played off your PC or USB stick.

- Image not as sharp as expected

+ Like being able to turn the tv off completely at the side of the set.

- Don`t like the controls on the controller. Find them difficult and cramped to use , especially when trying to change channels up/down /see what can be viewed on all channels.
Sound can be a bit muffled at times or rather...isn`t as distinct as I would have liked.

+ The picture is amazing when viewing HD sources like my ps3, and it sounds great too. The design of the tv is awesome too and looks really good on the wall.

- When watching SD the picture looks quite poor when compared to our 28 inch panasonic crt.

- Menu structure is complicated for some people, I have a PS3 so I'm used to the Sony design, but other people who have used the TV have a really hard time understanding how to use it.
