Score 9.0/10+ Easy to carry. Doesn't accidentally call/open up features. Lightweight. Nice aesthetics. Good sound quality through headphones. Has a graphic equaliser. Nice sized screen. User friendly - will allow for mistakes being made.
- Easilsy scratched front. Walknam feature sometimes too busy to navigate. Sounds too tiny when playing tracks though speakers. Needs a higher number of bands on equaliser. Wireless radio only works if within certain ranges otherwise, you require the headphones to act as ariel. Software on PC is tempremantal. Cannot get full usage due to software fault.

Score 10.0/10+ The music capacity is brilliant, and very easy to navigate , I like the way you can use the music facility even when the phone is closed.
- Camera is not very good, the viewfinder is where you need to hold to focus, so you have to take time to get your finger out of the way, and there is no flash.

Score 9.0/10+ Fantastic sound quality and walkman software is excellent. Front touch screen perfect for changing track quickly even with the huge amount of songs you can fit on the phone with the massive 8gb memory. FM transmitter is an excellent feature too.
- Battery life average at best. Ocassionally the phone will just switch itself off even with plenty of battery power remaining. Still need the handsfee antenna to access the radio.

Score 10.0/10+ The phone is great. Fantastic actually. I really enjoy using it, the phone is snappy, call quality is great, and the battery life is better than many others that I have used.
- It's a Walkman phone, but doesn't sound as good as other Walkman phones. This is of course the problem with the headphones, as I tried iPod headphones in the adaptor (yeah, no 3.5mm headphone socket) and they sound great.

Easy to use and the music player gives excellent sound reproduction.
SenseMe application is an interesting and quirky idea.
Plenty of helpful and fun applications within the device.
-
Media storage is needlessly complicated and occasionally difficult to find your way around: latest photo/camera album/pictures all really amount to the same thing.
Main numberpad is good for clumsy fingers but the menu keys are slightly awkward for someone who is all thumbs.

Expert reviews for Sony Ericsson W980
TechRadar expert review
Leading the line for the Walkman phone range, Sony Ericsson's flagship W980 comes with plenty of music mobile firepower. Boasting 8GB of built in memory, the W980 is loaded with the latest Walkman player gadgetry, plus a hefty shot of multimedia functionality, boosted by high-speed HSDPA connectivity.Presented in a slick clamshell design, the W980 is a step-up model from recent stylish Walkman phones, such as the ultra-slim W890i, rather than a direct descendent of Sony Ericsson's previous 8GB-packing Walkman phone, the W960i. The W960i was a Symbian UIQ-powered touchscreen smartphone,…
