Elegant design. Slim size in height.
Nice big chunky remote which is quite old fashioned but lovely - easy to find and difficult to lose. It's good to see the trend to make everything tiny going into reverse here.
Easy to use.

HDMI® output, 1080p upscaling, Xvid, PhotoTV HD, USB REC
Playback content stored on a USB device & apparently record TO a USB stick, although I haven't tried this yet.
I recently bought 2 other new DVD players for other rooms and had I known about this Sony one, I would have bought the Sony instead. They are great little DVD players once you've got over the cable hiccough mentioned in 'bad points'. Really it's worth 10 stars, but I've knocked one off for the cable fiasco. - Bad points:

Only comes with the ridiculous component cables, which produced a worse than dreadful picture and sound. To get the "Easy Connection to TV via HDMI cable" & "Upscale your DVDs to near HD quality" you need to make an additional purchase ie an HDMI cable.
Not being knowledgeable in these matters, I had to go online, join a Sony help group, post my question about my awful sound and picture, then wait for someone more knowledgeable than I to tell me how to sort it out.
The money Sony spends on putting a set of useless component cables in the box would be better spent leaving them out and including a good quality HDMI cable, so that people can open the box and get on with what they planned to do, ie watch a DVD. As it is, you have to go out again or go online to order this additional part.
Pictorial instructions instead of written ones. I HATE pictorial instructions. Just WRITE DOWN what I have to do! Especially as, with most pictorial instructions, there's the usual caveat that 'the pictures shown here may not look the same as the product you have purchased' which just makes them pretty pointless.
