John, Woking Just point and shoot

Score 5.0/10
Good points:
Simple to use, light, compact, inexpensive camera for HD recording, takes stills, sound quality suprisingly good.
Bad points:
Cheap plasticky casing, scratches easily, feels like it might break. Needs relatively high capacity SDHC card to give useful recording time in HD (>8Gb at least, probably twice that ideally). Battery life poor. Digital zoom gives blurry images, optical zoom fine. Preferably use on a tripod as video picture easily suffers from shake unless you have a very steady hand. Images poor in low light. Lens cap not good quality of fit, continually becomes separated from the lens. Slow shutter response time with still images.

Zoe, Cardiff Just point and shoot

Score 3.0/10
Good points:
Light, small and easy to use/transport
Bad points:
Too light and therefore very difficult to hold steady. As a result the picture quality was very poor.
Definitely need to use a tripod to ensure a decent picture, however that is not much use if you are on the move when trying to film.
Very expensive for the quality received. My previous camcorder was a fraction of the price and a far better quality picture was gained.

Good points:
Easy to use, good quality still photo's, light weight. Ideal for holidays. Wverall highly recommended.
Bad points:
Not too good in poor lighting conditions, really needs daylight. Picture jerky when played back using quicktime. Could do with a better zoom.

Confirmed purchaser Just point and shoot

Score 2.0/10
Good points:
Very little, in fact the best things are probably the specifications and features on paper; however, these don't bear any resemblance to the actual performance or capability of the camera.
Bad points:
Taking videos and/or pictures:
Video image quality is woeful, particularly if the subject is moving, the camera moves (at all) or you are inside. It seemed to miss a few frames every couple of seconds as the video "jumped" regularly. On a TV, the image looked grainy and worse than the camcorder this was trying to replace (a 7 year old Samsung tape camcorder).
The still camera also didn't live up to expectations, my 5mp camera produces significantly sharper and better quality pictures.
