A fantastic TV at an amazing price. Easy to set up, calibrations for picture settings are available online and it was up and running in just a few minutes. An incredible picture with HDTV and really good for movies.
-
The sound quality is poor, but is transformed with a surround sound system, which is needed for any big plasma screen anyway!

Buzzing sound at back of TV. Can be very annoying when silent/quiet scenes occur during a film. Contemplating getting it repaired by Samsung but understand this is a common problem with this TV.

The picture quality is super, it is very good value for money. Another feature which i like is the way the tv swivells round on the stand so you can get to the back easily. The shiny black surround gives it the finishing touch.

The picture quality is so real that it looks like I'm looking out of the window. I can spot every single make up flaw. I tweaked the settings a little to increase the contrast and saturation etc but still I prefer not so perfect "TV" image.

Picture quality is excellent, vivid sharp and fresh you almost feel your there particularly when upscaled to 1080i !! Sleek and stylish design in piano black finnish is great. The remote works very well and has a light for use in the dark. Built in freeview works well. Good connectivity for my dvd cinema system, cable box and xbox.
-
Sound quality on tv is not as good as I would have expected it has an echoey feel and poor bass, but with a little patience on the equaliser I managed to get it to an acceptable quality, I use my cinema system most of the time so not a problem to me. The remote does not illuminate enough buttons when lit up.

the t-v is excellent - we love the look of it especially the black surround. We also love the fact that the screen can be swivelled.
-
the sound on videos and recordings can be a little low and we have to turn the volume right up, but the quality is still acceptable. This only happens on recordings - normal viewing of the television channels the sound is excellent.

Samsung Plasma - excellent. In my opinion still better quality image and better value for money than an LCD of the same size. Plenty of HDMI, Scart, VGA, and other connectors.
-
Have not found any yet. No problems with burn-in. 6000 hr estimated lifetime is comparable with LCD.

Screen Size in Inches

42
Screen size is measured diagonally from corner to corner.
Type of Screen

Plasma
Most small flatscreen TVs have LCD screens. Some larger TVs have plasma screens. Some very new TVs have LED screens. Traditional TVs are called Standard or CRT.
HD TV

HD Ready
‘HD Ready’ is a Europe-wide standard designed to made HD technology less confusing. HD Ready TVs must have
• Minimum vertical resolution of 750 pixels (in widescreen format)
• Ability to display 720p and 1080i formats
• An HDMI or Digital Video Interface (DVI interface)
Full HD is a higher standard. Full HD TVs have screen resolutions of 1080p and can output at least 24 frames per second.
Full HD is becoming common, but you won’t see Full HD on normal TV channels for a long time, so it remains optional for many people.
Freeview or Freesat Tuner

Freeview
Freeview is free digital terrestrial TV. FreeSat is a free digital satellite TV service, which gives you HD programming from people like the BBC without having to pay for a subscription to a service like Sky. You need a dish to receive Freesat but not Freeview.
For more information see the Freeview site or the Freesat site.
HDMI Interface

3

Number of Scart Interfaces

2
Scart sockets are places where you can connect other devices to your TV. If you already have a DVD player, a VCR and a Playstation you might want to make sure your new TV has enough Scart interfaces so you don’t have to keep crawling round the back of the TV.

15000
This figure is designed to tell you how much difference there is between dark and light colours on the TV. It is quoted as a ratio, between the brightest white and the darkest black. 500:1 means the brightest white is 500 times more bright than the darkest black. Plasma screens have historically boasted better contrast ratios than LCD screens.

768p
The number of pixels the screen has. The more you have, the more detail the screen can display, given a high quality source.
A breakdown of resolutions can be found on Wikipedia here
