+ Excellent picture quality even when watching standard def tv. HD of course is on another level and looks stunning. Sound is really quite good in comparison to a normal old style tv but of course not as good as surround sound. Works very well with my PS3 when in game mode and makes the games even more stunning.

- Honestly cant think of any. The only time you get a slightly bad image or blurring is when you are watching an obscure channel that doesnt broadcast good quality images (Not the TVs fault). If your watching through Sky or the big normal channels (BBC, ITV) the picture is excellent.

+ I very rarely write product reviews, however I have been a home cinema hobbiest for 10 years, and I spent 12 months researching the best full HD TV to purchase - the image quality of this Samsung is incredible. Whilst the sound is average, most serious HD users will have invested in independent surround sound capability, and the onboard sound is more than sufficient for day to day use. At last LCD has overtaken not only Plasma (Albeit discouting the Pioneer Kuros range) but also CRT televisions - no mean feat. At this price, the value for money is astounding. A couple of pointers though - to get the most out of this TV, I would strongly recommend investing in an HD TV callibration DVD in order to adjust the picture settings, as the factory settings do not do the image justice. I would also advise testing all the different 100Hz settings with your favourite blu-rays / upscaled DVDs (BTW this TV's in-built upscaling capabilities are better than my onboard Sony blu-ray 350 upscaling...). Whilst movie purists will suggest the lowest 100Hz setting - you may find you get a more "high definition" feel from the second or Standard setting - this gives a much more 3D feel to the picture. The Smooth setting though did feel over-processed.

- None whatsoever, providing you have invested in an external sound system. Also I gave 9 points for ease of use, as Home Cinema novices may struggle with the complexity of some of the menu's terminology, and resort to using factory settings, which would be a REAL shame. Neother of these factors comes anywhere close though to reducing the overall score from a full 10. In the words of Spinal Tap, I only wish that it could go to 11....

+ Image Quality is outstanding, clearly beats mostly all of the latest flatscreens (LCD and PLASMA, not LED) in the same and even higher price bands. Build quality and style is up to a very high spec. looks amazing even when switched off. HD playback is out of this world and beats most TV's on the market.

- Sound quality is poor but with a TV like this you would want to hook this up to a surround sound system.

+ The quality of the images in full HD. Very convenient with full HD media (videos, music, pictures) playback through either USB port or streaming from computer via its DLNA support. Standard definition pictures are very good when not heavily detailed (e.g. leaves and plants in background) and when camera is not panning rapidly. Although I suspect this also down to heavy compression from broadcasters. - Touch sensitive controls
- Remote lights up when pressing keys - helpful when watching in dark
- Good connectivity for computers and support for many resolutions.
- Picture in picture is great, though seems limited to inbuilt tuner when using other sources.
- Relatively light in weight.
- Can update software through USB port!

- Sound is passable for everyday TV, though would definitely be enhanced with a separate audio system.
Has a high pitched whine when turned on, though is only noticeable when standing next to TV.

+ Excellent pictures from bluray dvd and from freeview. Playing movies across network works much better than I had expected.

- Sound really requires a connection out to a home cinema connection to come up to same standard as the pictures

+ Looks great - very attractive design. Menu system is very swanky. Best bit is that it can decode loads and loads of video formats. So you can just plug in a usb memory key or HDD straight into the TV, and watch video you have downloaded off the internet. This works astonishingly well. HD picture quality is gorgeous.

- It has these 'Widgets' - little software apps that connect to the internet to do things like show weather, share prices, flickr feeds etc. These do work, but there's very few of them, they do boring things, and they are very slow and clunky to use.

+ A very nice looking television which I found to be quite easy to set up. I have found the picture quality to be exceptional especially when viewing blu ray movies. It is also great for watching sport and natural history type programs.

- It is a struggle to say that this television has bad points but if pushed the sound quality can seem to be a little bit thin.

+ Everything. From the moment this TV came out of its box I've had a big smile on my face. The USB function to play media from a USB stick is fantastic. So far every file type I have thrown on a USB stick the TV has been able to play. It also seems to be upscaling the quality of the files somewhat as well but that could be just me being so impressed with it.
With all the extra functions that this TV has over the other TV options available, Personally I think paying that little bit extra is well worth it.
You wont be disappointed

- Not having one in every room

+ Great TV, same as SAMSUNG LE40B650 but this is the Dixons specific model. Cheaper at Dixons compared to everyone else. Plays .mkv's and most common file types through the USB ports so no need for a media centre any more. Picture is mint for standard and high def. Good remote with backlighting. Picture good for all sources straight from the box, a bit of tweaking after some digging on the internet gives perfect configuration.

- Sound not mazing but by no means bad, looking at the magazine reviews it seems all LCD's fall into this category nowadays anyway.

+ Excellent tv with amazing picture quality. Huge number of settings and adjustments which allow you to get the image quality you want.
Great looking set also, even the stand looks good.

- Sound a little weak, especialy the bass, but aren't all LCD and Plasma screens!
Touch sensitive buttons on front a little fidly and awkward to see.

Expert reviews for Samsung LE40B650 / LE40B651 / LE40B652

TechRadar expert review

Samsung's LE40B651 Series 6 LCD TV is gorgeous. The bezel around the screen has a distinctive crystal effect with a red tint. The remote control is large and cluttered but the onscreen interface is coherent. Connectivity is respectable: four HDMI inputs and two USB ports. One of these can be used with Samsung's ¬£50 optional wireless 'dongle' if you are unable to plug in an Ethernet cable. Internet@TVSamsung's term for net tellies is Internet@TV, available in many of its newer sets. It's a well laid out system, mostly populated with Yahoo! widgets for webmail, news and other informatio…

Pocket Lint expert review

The UK’s most popular brand of flat telly looks set to carry on its success if this entry-level LCD TV is anything to go by.The LE40B650 is so good it’s tempting to suggest that the makers of plasma TVs and even new-fangled LED LCD TVs (of which Samsung is a major proponent) should all give up and go home...
