Score 6.0/10+ colour, pleasant to look at.
- If dropped cover would break easily

Score 9.0/10+ It looks nice, it's easy to use and the sound quality is good too. Very good value compared to some others on the market.
- As with all DAB radios, it won't run for long on batteries. If you want to run it on batteries all the time (as we do) it's best to get a couple of sets of rechargeables to switch between, but this adds significantly to the overall cost.
purchased 26 Mar 2007

Score 9.0/10+ Stylish design, simple operation, and crystal clear sound
- Like all digital radios, battery life is not brilliant

Score 6.0/10+ Fairly simple to use once you've got the hang of it. Good value for money overall and good sound quality.
- It's far too light in weight - it's easy to knock over or move when adjusting the controls, so the radio needs to be located against a wall to avoid this. The on/off switch would be better located on top or near the top of the radio - it's difficult to access where it is.

Score 9.0/10+ Attractive, easy to us and sounds very good.
- Rechargeable battery (option) is very expensive
purchased 31 Jul 2007
Paul, Newcastle
Score 9.0/10+ Utterly simple operation, just turn on and you're away. Great sound, fills a kitchen easily without distortion. Presets are easy to set, the Kitchen Timer is a welcome addition. Display shows time when on standby, and can also be set to always have the backlight on (when in operation)
- Pressing the big centre button to select presets/stations requires you to support the unit from behind as it's not heavy enough to let you press the button without wobbling backwards, if you see what I mean. Screen is a bit small, but not too small. Has an external power adapter rather than taking a standard stereo power lead, but this isn't particularly an issue.

Score 9.0/10+ Good clear sound. Good quality for a cheaper end of scale model. More channels than I thought I could get. Modern but tasteful looking. I like the white.
- Took a minute or two to sort out how to change channels but easy once I knew.

Score 9.0/10+ sound quality is excellent for a small portable,in a basic plastic case. I showed it to a friend at his house and he purchased one in the next few days. Copycat!!
- The buttons take a lot of getting used to,and takes many references to the manual to work them. Possably not very girl friendly, unless they like battling with computers.

Score 8.0/10+ It's just brilliant - sound quality is good, and it looks good
-
It doesn't have an alarm function - that's its only bad point.
It doesn't have any "what's coming on later" features, but if you want that, you're going to have to pay more ;-)

Score 9.0/10+ I found it dead easy to get the two stations I most use and although we live in a very bad reception area I find ever station I am interested in available although I can only get LBC on analogue.
- I can't get the hang of storing more than two stations but this is probably more a function of my age, 80+, rather than the set.

Score 10.0/10+ Looks great, self-tuning, good quality sound. I definitely recommend this radio!
- You have to remember to press the button required before turning the knob - e.g. to change stations. Just takes practice - I'd still buy it again! It doesn't have a handle which would have been better for a portable radio, but easy to pick up anyway.

Expert reviews for Pure One Classic
TechRadar expert review
Imagine if Apple released a budget version of its iPod that was made of black shiny plastic and didn't have a clickwheel - and cost just ¬£50. That may not be Apple's style, but that's the approach Pure Digital has taken with its One DAB radio. Basic instinctLike the styling, the One's connectivity is basic, with just a headphone jack and a USB slot, the latter designed only for occasional software updates via Pure's website. It's also got some nifty features. Intellitext allows you to select the latest headlines - in scrolling text format - from the world of Formula One, football and…
