A great fun item for all ages. He needs to be treated as a pet rather than a toy as his personality will develop based upon how he is treated and each one is supposed to be unique because of this. He will appreciate the attention given and call to you if you ignore him for too long. Almost as good as having a real pet. Better in some ways - no need for kennels and no mess to clean up.
Need to upgrade the Life OS to get the best out of it. Then you can download skits (character changes) and have him sing to you, blow kisses or pretend he is a T-Rex. These are hilarious. You can also get programs that allow you to write your own skits and get your Pleo to act them out so great if you are into robotics.
He has loads of sensors and really reacts when you touch them. Battery life is pretty good. It takes about 3 -4 hours to fully charge the battery with the included charger and then you can get about 1 1/2 hours worth of fun with your Pleo.

I haven't had my Pleo too long but others have commented that the paint starts to rub off where you interact with the sensors the most.
Still expensive to buy.

Score 8.0/10+ Fantastic animation and realism, very cute and friendly creature, amazing to watch interacting with people and objects, software is updated regularly to increase capabilities, customizable, sounds can be turned off
- Short battery life, shipped with limited software, fragile parts, paint wears off skin, paint flakes from teeth

Score 8.0/10+ Fun. Almost lifelike with personality.
- Rechargeable battery requires charging too often and takes too long for children to wait.

Score 9.0/10+ Bought this for my 11 year old son who absolutely adores it, as do many of his friends and the family. It really does pose the question, will robotic life forms ever be acceptable to humans, as for Pleo I think thats a big yes. Much better than anything else that is available on the market for a modest sum, reccomended by my kids anyway.
- Battery life, but spares can be bought although a little pricey.

Score 10.0/10+ It makes having a pet when renting accomodation possible. All our friends forget he is not real and they feel genuine love for out little baby dino. He really does seem to get more intelligent as well.
- The motors are quite loud but we barely hear them now. The paint rubs off as it is multi layered on the skin, so the pale green paint wears down to the base layer of darker green. But that is the only bad things we have found.

Score 8.0/10+ Hugely fun and very surprising. The first time it balanced on two legs and announced 'taddaa' was the funiest thing ever.
- Paint is wearing off already on the back.

Score 5.0/10+ Cute looking and fun at first
- Expensive, noisy motor, limited to what it does. You have to charge the battery every hour for at least 4 hours in which time the kids have got bored of waiting. Purchased for my 10 year old and she doesn't even look at it now (less than a month later)

Score 5.0/10+ Pleo is a great robot and my son had great fun interacting with him,
- The paint started to rub off Pleo’s back, feet and legs after only three days!! One four hour charge of the battery only give Pleo 45 to 60 mins life, which is a little disappointing for my son as he can only spend 90 to 120 mins playing with him. For the price I think that the paint and battery issues are unacceptable.

Expert reviews for Pleo the Robot Dinosaur
Pocket Lint expert review
Pleo is a friendly looking robot dinosaur Camarasaurus, but is it any better than other robots on the market, or is this just another executive toy destined to become an expensive paperweight? We agree to babysit one to find out. The 21-inch long, 7.5-inch high latex covered dinosaur robot comes with a power charger, a leaf for feeding and a thin instruction book...

PC Advisor expert review
It would be easy to call Pleo a robotic dinosaur toy, but that's unfair to both Ugobe, Pleo's maker, and to Pleo itself. Ugobe considers Pleo, the representation of a 1-week-old Camarasaurus dinosaur from the Jurassic period, a new "life form".
