Philips GC8220 Iron Reviews: Steam Generator Iron

+ Heats up quickly. Does not require constant re-filling. Good steam output

+ Excellent iron very light easy to use. Only have to iron one side of anything its so good, even jeans that have been creased and are very dry the continuous steam the iron has makes a 10 minute job last 2 mins if that.

+ The constant steam is a revelation - I certainly wouldn't go back to an ordinary steam iron. The setting-up and operating of the machine is very simple.

- A bit noisy when priming.

+ Oh my has this iron cut down on my ironing time.

- Quite big so reluctant to balance on end of ironing board.
When on constant steam, it does not stop when you stand the iron on its end whilst adjusting clothes. This is a minor point though.

+ Takes a little while to get used to the fact that you only have to iron most things on one side but makes ironing bedding etc. much easier and faster!

+ brilliant iron, almost makes ironing a pleasure!! (I hate ironing), Solid build and very easy to use. Most garments only need ironed on one side, great on shirts.

- None, except I need to change my ironing board to accommodate this applicance.

+ It is really easy to iron linen, and it has cut down my ironing time on the whole.

- The storage of the leads is not very good, wrapped around the unit with the two plastic holders at each side. These seem flimsy.

+ It makes ironing faster and is good on things like jeans and large items like quilt covers.
It is easy to fill.
The good points easily outweigh the bad.

- The whole system is heavy to move around when getting it out and putting it away.
Also its easy to forget to press the button on the iron, (after plugging it in and pushing the button on the water tank to heat up) to get steam which you don't have to do on a normal steam iron.
