Score 9.0/10+ Build quality is outstanding for the pricepoint. The image quality is as good as Nikon and Canon, and in some cases better. If your on a tight budget the K10D is probably the best choice for a semi professional DSLR.
- You do need to play with it to get the pics you want. Straight out of the box shooting will not yeild the best results. So for quick snaps - not great. This camera is definately for the experienced photographer. Choice of lenses and third part products not as extensive as the top two camera makes.

- I was disappointed to find that the camera doesn't have a coaxial flash socket to enable me to attach my studio flash to the camera.

Excellent handling and performance. Very good range of features.
Comparable in use with the LX, the best SLR Pentax, or anyone else perhaps, ever produced.
- The software support for RAW format is limited. Good image adjustment but no quick crop or straighten.

Score 10.0/10+ Image quality, versatility, ease of use.
- Size and weight (compared to *istD), also Pentax do not import ERC to UK market!

Score 9.0/10+ Good quality, nice and solid, fairly easy to use after an initial 'heavens, there's so much to learn'. The results so far are all that I expected.
- None, really, apart from the manual, which is a dog's dinner of a book, and doesn't open flat, which means that you need at least three hands. That, at least, is a 'must do better next time'.

Score 9.0/10+ compact and nice handling- typical Pentax. All Pentax lenses fit albeit with some restrictions-see below.Found it easy to use after using film Pentax models.results in available light have been excellent. exposure meter very sensitive. Battery life good.Camera has not been tested in variety of lighting conditions yet. At last an excellent digital slr for the pentax faithful. There is life other than Nikon and Canon despite what the journals say.
- older Pentax flash not compatible-even previous top flash unit 500FTZ.screen not easy to read in daylight-may not be worse than other cameras. when using aperture ring on older lenses only manual metering available- I would have expected aperture priority at least- maybe there is but I haven't found it yet!

Score 9.0/10+ I was able to take pictures as soon as I had unpacked the camera - and read the manual! This was using Green mode and am now experimenting with the other options.
- The battery indicator does not give you much warning when the battery is due for charging. I would like to know how much charge is in the battery before I start to use the camera.

Because I've used Pentax cameras since the SV, which had a top shutter speed of 1/1000 sec. and no metering system at all, I am rather biased in favour of Pentax cameras.
The K10D is easy to operate and handle, though it did take me about an hour before I took any pictures with it, It has everything in the correct position even for me with a bad right hand and it's esy to change metering systems, which is absolutely marvellous having so many to choose from. I found setting it to aperture priority beautiful for portraits and landscapes smashing.
All in all I'd rate this camera a marvellous tool to use for any situation, i have photographed 2 weddings with it and every shot is spot on in exposure and focus, all I need do is compose a shot and let the camera take care of everything else.
- The only fault I found with it was the built in flash, it's not powerful enough for studio work but as a fill in for ioutdoor portraits it's OK.

Expert reviews for Pentax K10
TechRadar expert review
The last Pentax SLR we reviewed, the K100D, was pleasing enough but disappointing in certain respects. The main issue was that it's cosmetically and technically hard to distinguish from all the Pentax cameras that have gone before, even down to the now ordinary 6-megapixel sensor. The pictures are rather good, in that they have some of the richness and depth that many digital photographers might think have gone forever in the switch from film to digital. But that isn't enough on its own. All the other major players have introduced 10-megapixel models, and it's apparent that this increas…

Pocket Lint expert review
I was introduced to the new Pentax flagship DSLR at the massive photo trade show, Photokina that’s held every 2 years in Cologne, Germany at the end of September. The K10D had already created a bit of buzz around some of its new technologies. Pentax claims over 30 new patents had been filed in the development of the new camera, so Pentax was anxious for us to recognise, while a lot of the camera’s features sound similar on other makers models, they were not...

The bulky K10D has more in common with Nikon\'s D80 than the other sub-£500 digital SLRs.
