+ Picture quality, ease of ues with remote control. lots of functions never thought was included. freesat is fantastic, plug your Sky dish cable into T.V set and walla. Watched quite a few H.D programmes (Doc Martin being on Sunday 22nd Sept.) You need to own one to realise the technology this model has.Includes instant record (the tv does the recording) but you have to watch that programme.Put your SD card in the side slot of TV and view your photos and/or movies you've taken. Get one while the price is right. You also get other Sat. programmes.

- Unable to set programme planner for automatic viewing of regular viewed programmes, deal or no deal, judge judy, etc. There must be a way but ive not found it. Video recorder/dvd and other devices require a HDMI socket for Vierra link although my present devices work well with scart sockets.Instruction manual can be a puzzle, have to go from one page no. to another page no. some ten pages away. To sum up, its well worth it and my Sky box was a Panasonic provided by Sky in 2000 not one hitch.

+ Easy to use and set up. The TV is light thin and stylish. The available Freesat is a great feature.

- Sound could be better, image is very good but not as good as the best LCD units

+ Fantastic picture quality on Freesat HD and Standard definition. Very easy to use and set up. Loads of inputs and options. More expensive than a lot of other sets but worth it. Really really pleased.

+ Would have preferred a totally gloss black fram rather than the strange silver section at the bottom. Great to be able to connect to the internet but not as much internet functionality as I would like. Picture great on Freeview but not awesome - have not yet tried it on Freesat, so that might help.

- Remote easy to use but could be classier!

Score 9.0/10

+ The sleek design and wide range of signal inputs integrate well with with my computer and other audio-visual equipment. The built-in Freesat and Freeview future proof the television and the remote control makes it easy to switch between the many options provided. On top of all that, the screen provides a really good viewing experience.

- Although the TV links to my computer network easily, the media formats it can accept are limited, as is the internet experience.

+ The picture, especially in HD, is as good as it gets.
The colours are very true to life.
There is no discernable motion blur.
The Freeview picture is excellent too.

- The sound could be much better with side speakers.
The speakers in this TV point down, so if you mount it above a mantlepiece (mine is 4 inches above) it reduces the quality.
I do not like the programme displays much, very drab black and white, and the sound goes off while you are browsing.

+ Extremely good picture quality, clarity and colour with an excellent contrast ratio makes for satisfying hi-def viewing. A sleek, feature-rich design with plenty of inputs and, at the time of buying, the 46" was the same price as the 42" only a few months previously.

- No major bad points at all. Built-in sound is acceptable but not great but that's common to all such screens due to the form factor.

+ Really excellent image quality with HD. Easy setup with Freesat. Bright and sharp image, wide viewing angle. Great connectivity, I love the DLNA playback of media on networked computers. Good Freesat EPG.

- Default settings were a little over-sharp for my tastes - pixely with halos around objects, but can be tweaked. SD image quality can be a bit noisy with lots of artefacts - but that's probably Freesat bandwidth. Amazon VOD hasn't appeared in Viera Cast in the UK. Also Viera Cast doesn't offer the option to play HD YouTube videos. Built-in speaker sound is a little lacking in depth.

+ Amazing picture, easy setup. Huge array of features.

- Switching between inputs could be easier, have to scroll through all of them every time even if it's only 2 you generally use.
YouTube channl on Viera cast only shows videos in low quality, not HD; strange for an HD TV.

+ Having spent 2 months trying to figure out which TV to get - plasma/ LCD or LED - i opted for the plasma - best in my price range of under £1K. Having not had enough time to get reviews on the new LED technology plus price range I could not be compelled to trade of screen size versus price range so was left with deciding between Plasma and LCD. Having compare the Sony Bravia 46" mid range one to the G15 - the plasma outshines it even without the HD output. Very natural picture quality and the sound is good enough without having to use additional amplifiers etc.

- I think it is still pricey considering what the competition has out there in terms of LED technology.

TV Buyers Guide

Manufacturer's Description

Full HD LCD TV with freesat built-in, Wide Viewing Angle, Superb Moving Picture Quality and Advanced Networking Capabilities

“freesat” is a digital satellite service that offers free HD (High-definition) TV programmes. With the G15 series, you can enjoy sharp pictures, vivid colours, multi-channel sound, and various services with the interactive contents.

Even fast-moving scenes are displayed sharply and clearly. With a 50 Hz video signal input, 100 Hz Intelligent Frame Creation makes 100 frames/sec from 50 frames/sec. This increases the frame count to allow natural frame-to-frame transitions, for smooth motion images with high resolution. VIERA also uses motion focus technology that greatly enhances resolution.

The wide 178° viewing angle* ensures clear images even when viewed from an angle. The backlight’s wide transmission aperture enhances the contrast between light and dark, and improves motion-image response. *Measured at an angle where the contrast ratio is 10:1 or higher.

Enjoy the Internet contents right on your TV. With VIERA CAST technology, you can enjoy online content such as videos, photos, weather and stock information through an easy-to-use Web interface that’s built into the TV. No extra equipment required.

DLNA is a standard that makes digital electronics easier and more convenient to use on a home network. For example, DLNA makes it possible to watch motion and still images stored in your computer on a large-screen TV, or to watch content stored on a hard disc recorder in your living room or bedroom.

VIERA Link allows interconnected operation of various AV devices using only the VIERA remote control, by simply connecting the devices to each other by an HDMI cable. What’s more, the VIERA Image Viewer provides a new photo viewing experience. Simply insert an SD Memory Card into VIERA to display photos and full-HD videos on the large screen. You can also choose from among 3 types of background music and 4 display effects.
