The important bit - The picture is great. This is my first plasma, and my socks have truly been knocked off.
The realisim and depth of colours is fantastic.
Price - Pay for the picture rather than the ultra slim design. - Bad points:
-
One consideration is that its 90mm deep. It still looks great wall mounted, but couldnt be described as the discrete 'painting' look. But when was a 50" TV on the wall ever going to be subtle. The same panel in a slim set costs over twice the price.
Active 3D glasses - Old tech now. I have no plans to use the 3D so i didnt care. But a big 3D fan should go for the passive (non flicker) tech.

- Excellent TV, I believe that Panasonic are one of the best brands available.

- Sound could be a whole lot better, but I use a 3D home surround system which makes the sound quality excellent.

TV Buyers GuideManufacturer's Description
FULL HD 3D Plasma with Infinite Black Pro, 600Hz Sub-field Drive Intelligent Frame Creation Pro and THX Mode
The VT20 Series includes a DVB-S tuner for Freesat HD and a DVB-T2 tuner for Freeview HD providing you with a convenient, subscription free way of watching HD contents like sport, as well as your favourite soaps, dramas and documentaries in full HD glory wherever you are in the UK.
FULL HD 3D makes you feel as if you’d stepped out of your living room and into the world on the screen. The viewing experience has never been so lifelike and compelling. The technology in which the left-eye and right-eye 3D images are sent to the viewer is the key to 3D image quality. For this, FULL HD 3D uses something called the Frame Sequential technology. A separate 1920×1080 full-HD image is sent to each eye. This addresses the image quality problems and blurring that were common to previous 3D systems, and creates sharp, crisp 3D images.
A contrast ratio of 5,000,000:1 enables VIERA to display extremely robust blacks. A new panel and improvements to the cell discharge area dramatically increase contrast when viewing in brightly lit locations. And reducing the electrical pre-discharge that causes greying has greatly enhanced black gradation. As a result, deep, rich blacks are displayed in virtually any viewing area, from living rooms to bedrooms. Even in dark film scenes, clothing textures and individual strands of hair are clearly reproduced.
600Hz Sub-field Drive technology lets you view superb full-HD motion and still images with 1,080 lines of resolution. For even greater clarity with motion images, Panasonic uses its own unique image-analysis technology. This technology converts the motion in each scene into data. And each frame is practically displayed for a shorter length of time than in previous systems, to reduce aftereffects. When using Cinema mode.
THX reproduces film images exactly as the film’s creators intended them. The overall aim was to improve the experience of cinema-goers and faithfully recreate the audio and visual ambience that filmmakers intended. To receive THX certification, TVs undergo stringent tests to determine, for example, whether the exact same brightness and colour are displayed at all screen locations, and whether black levels satisfy standard criteria. VIERA meets the high standards set by the THX Certified Display Program.
