+ The product looks fantastic and some of the design/interface features are excellent (1 x HDMI is on a side-facing panel along with a composite input and a place for a Memory Card)

- My only minor criticism is that the manual & remote control are for multiple Panasonic models. Therefore, some of the features that would appear to be present on my new TV (and would appear to be quite useful) are in fact not on the model I purchased. I'd rather not know which features I missed out on!!

+ Picture quality is amazing with HD. What it does with Freeview is stunning. I have an older Panasonic plasma rated 9/10 on almost all reviews but the freeview doesn't compare. Combine it with a Panasonic DMP-BD35EB-K blu-ray & you won't go wrong.

+ Excellent when viewing high res films/tv, normal tv quality is ok but not great, it would be best if freeview was actually HD as standard to benefit from the full 1080p on the tv. Nice flat screen with nice black finish.

- Slightly noisy hum at back of tv when sound very low, but I believe this is normal for plasma tv's.

+ The image quality is great, even with SD. The motion is smooth and doen't give me a head ache unlike some cheaper models and brands. The Viera link makes it very easy to use with panasonic DVD and blu-ray players. It is very easy to setup. Geat value for money.

- Sound quality isn't bad but could be better. (It would go well with a seperate surround sound system). Pity there is no USB port and an extra HDMI port would be useful.

For the price, you won't beat it.

+ price was excellent. the physical aspects of setting up the thing were simple, plug it in, stick the aerial into the back and you're done!
picture quality is amazing with HDMI and the sound is equally as impressive. the tv responds quickly to the remote control, so you don't have to press it for a long time.
you can record using a memory card - big bonus that not all tvs will have.

- not really a bad point, but it's not as thin as an LCD. this is not to say that i have an elephant in my living room, far from it. it is still the thinnest plasma I've ever had (I've had 4).
The instructions take some battling through too, but that's only if you want to use all of it's capabilities.

+ Deep Blacks, good sound, great SD picture, no image bleed like on some LCD, lack of picture processing options means less over-fluid motion and over enhancement of images like on some samsung etc, good on PS3 with HD.

- Not the most stylish.

Expert reviews for Panasonic TX-P42S10 / TX-P42S11

TechRadar expert review

While Panasonic's high-end TVs have been performing extremely well this year, its budget models are more of a mixed bag, so we have no idea what to expect from the mid-range TX-P42S10B. Externally the P42S10 looks reasonably serious and well-built, but also just a little bit dull. And it's not particularly exceptional when it comes to connections, as we find a fairly routine three HDMIs and no jacks for internet or PC connectivity. On the upside, there is an SD card slot for JPEGs and AVCHD video. The P42S10B starts to warm us up with a full HD resolution ‚Äì an extremely rare discover…

Manufacturer's Description

Full-HD Model with Superb Moving Picture Quality and Advanced Networking Capabilities

400-Hz technology lets you view superb full-HD motion and still images with 900 lines of resolution. Self-illuminating plasma displays feature high moving picture resolution, so there are no more frustrating afterimages in fast-action scenes. You enjoy smooth, clear motion in sports scenes and in the action scenes of movies.

VIERA incorporate an improved panel production process and the new Real Black Drive system. A pre-discharge control system, the Real Black Drive system achieves next-generation black reproduction. When you’re watching movies, VIERA renders images just the way the director intended, even in scenes where it’s difficult to achieve a proper balance of light and dark.

VIERA Link allows interconnected operation of various AV devices using only the VIERA remote control, by simply connecting the devices to each other by an HDMI cable. VIERA Link performance has been further enhanced with LUMIX digital camera connection. By connecting a new LUMIX camera that has an HDMI output terminal to VIERA, you can use the VIERA remote to control the playback of images stored on the camera.

It’s easy to view full-HD images with the SD card slot. Watch and show your photos and motion images right after you take them. Simply insert an SD Memory card into VIERA to display photos and full-HD videos on the large screen. You can also choose from among 3 types of background music and 4 display effects.

V-Audio Surround gives depth-sound-image effect by early-reflection data based on actual room measurement, that is generated from digital signal processor.
