+ Looks fab, easy to set up. Great picture quality & sound quality. I had been told we may not really notice the difference between normal & HD but the difference is clear HD is perfect shame all programmes are not transmitted in HD.

- Not sure this would be best choice for viewing in brightly lit rooms.

+ I purchased this product with some trepidation as I am a pensioner. I thought the technology would be beyond me but I am so pleased with everything about the Panasonic TX-P42G10 B as everything is built in. No more boxes and gadgets to work out how to use. The quality and design of the product is first class.

- None found up to press although with all products the manuals are a bit too much to take in. If anything all companies should make their manuals user friendly. This is not a complaint against the product.

+ Nice looker ,not to deep as there are slimmer models available, protective screen cover is ok and does not affect picture. no regrets buying this model.

- not as good a picture as the 40" lcd samsung it replaced which is now in other room, the samsung has more sound and picture adjustments. still the panasonic has grown on me.

+ A fantastic HD picture which seems to get better and better over time.
SD picture quality is amazing, apart from with very low quality channels, which appear grainy and washed out. Sound quality has been criticised by others on forums but is excellent.

- Needs a little bit of configuration to get the best picture at first.

- Concerned about the availability of remote control after this model goes out of production.
Occasional loss of signal from satellite
Very slight background noise from fans.....dust-proof?

+ All the features, including Freesat, 600Ghz really does prevent Motion Blur, superb picture quality in 1080p HD viewing

- Still a little old school in design, Panasonic could have incorporated something a little different to make this superb Plasma stand out from the rest.

+ Great picture that makes LCD look plastic. Quick and easy to set up. Lots of connections. Sound not brillient, but with a TV like this it deserves seperate hi fi sound anyway.

- Constant new Freeview channel updates. The Sony I had seemed to do it automatically.

+ Picture is great, good color and great blacks. Freesat is great. Viera link with Bluray home cinema is also good. Cant find anything bad to say other that use the cloth provided for cleaning the shiny bits.

- As with all plasmas - cleaning the screen.

TV Buyers Guide

Manufacturer's Description

Full-HD NeoPDP Models with freesat built-in, Superb Moving Picture Quality and Advanced Networking Capabilities

“freesat” is a digital satellite service that offers free HD (High-definition) TV programmes. With the G10 series, you can enjoy sharp pictures, vivid colours, multi-channel sound, and various services with the interactive contents.

600-Hz technology lets you view superb full-HD motion and still images with 1,080 lines of resolution. For even greater clarity with motion images, Panasonic uses its own unique image-analysis technology. This technology converts the motion in each scene into data, then optimises the sub-field to display fast-action scenes in full-HD resolution. And each frame is displayed for a shorter length of time than in previous systems, to reduce aftereffects.

VIERA incorporate an improved panel production process and the new Real Black Drive system. A pre-discharge control system, the Real Black Drive system combines with NeoPDP technology to achieve next-generation black reproduction. When you’re watching movies, VIERA renders images just the way the director intended, even in scenes where it’s difficult to achieve a proper balance of light and dark.

VIERA Link allows interconnected operation of various AV devices using only the VIERA remote control, by simply connecting the devices to each other by an HDMI cable. VIERA Link performance has been further enhanced with LUMIX digital camera connection. By connecting a new LUMIX camera that has an HDMI output terminal to VIERA, you can use the VIERA remote to control the playback of images stored on the camera.

It’s easy to view full-HD images with the SD Memory Card slot. Watch and show your photos and motion images right after you take them. Simply insert an SD Memory Card into VIERA to display photos and full-HD videos on the large screen. You can also choose from among 3 types of background music and 4 display effects.

V-Audio Surround gives depth-sound-image effect by early-reflection data based on actual room measurement, that is generated from digital signal processor.
