Integrated FreeSat(HD), full HD, 46" good for Dvd/Blu Ray movies.
-
SD, possibly not up to scratch on some transmissions. On a FreeSat note, most of the channels are available via Freeview, and it is really only worth, the BBC HD channel. It is said more channels will be added later, and they need to be, as the content at the moment is , Rubbish!

My first Plasma so I can only go on my experience with this one at home but I spent a fair while looking between different makes and models.
Picture quality on a desending scale is
1, Blueray is AWESOME through PS3
2, Built in Freesat is superb on the HD channels and very good on normal channels
3, Sky+ through Scart is good but does vary from channel to channel.
4, Analogue only just average and would only use as a last resort.
Set up was as simple as it can be with more than enough connections for me, all channels found automatically.
I was concerned about "running in" the panel correctly but in all honesty I've just kept it off Dynamic as advised and used the TV as normal, colours are good enough for me as an everyday person.
Speakers are OK but now I run it through a theatre system and would never go back to the standard TV set.
-
None so far but I regard this Panasonic as a higher top end set, if your worried about spending the extra over a standard set then I have to say in my experience its money well spent (compared to a Sony "W" set my father bought).

Stunning picture quality even with Freeview or SD sources
Perfect choice for HD sources such as Blu-ray/PS3
1080p/24 support (no judder)
Ability to turn off Over Scan for true HD 1 to 1 pixel matching (I recommend doing this!)
Deep Colour support
Built-in Freesat and Freeview recievers
* Set the Viewing Mode to "Cinema" and the Colour Balance to "Warm" in order to get a perfectly calibrated picture (per DVE) - no additional tweaking required! *
-
The sound is a bit tinny but this is to be expected on most TV's, a surround sound system is needed to get the most out of your viewing experience!

Panasonic are simply the best manufacturers of plasma and wide screen televisions in the world. They seem to come first in all the comparison studies, and I have looked at most of them. The model I purchased ie the TH46PZ81B has built in Freeview and Freesat and the HD is extraordinary. The sound is greatly improved from the last Panasonic I owned.
-
They have moved th PC connector to the back of the set when it was more convenient on the front.

Highly reflective screen and screen surround causing reflected ambient light to blight the picture and cause distraction on the screen surround.
The picture does not automatically adjust after changing to a channel with a different aspect (e.g. changing from 16:9 to 4:3 picture aspect or vice versa).

Its easier to point out the bad points. On the whole i have no problems. I am not very technically minded but i had no problems at all setting up the tv, i just connected everything up and turned it on.

My only little problem is the silver line around the stand, i find it a little distracting from the overall blackness of the frame.Thats just a personal taste.

Good picture quality. Built in Freesat (and free HD on BBC and SOMETIMES ITV) Sleek design. VERY easy to set up and use...only took ten minutes out of the box to be up and running. Can't comment on the sound because I am using a Panasonic home theatre system, however the Vierra connectivity is brilliant.
I've never had a Plasma TV before but am VERY impressed with the picture quality etc. especially when the sun is shining. Other TV's I've had needed the curtains closed on sunny days but this one works just as well on a sunny day as a dull one. The preset picture settings are a godsend and mean you don't have to spend hours adjusting contrast etc to get the best picture.
-
The stand is a bit lumpy and unattractive which spoils the overall impression of the TV as a piece of furniture. The shiny black surround attracts dust at an alarming rate and requires dusting several times a day (the cloth they supply is useless) The on off switch on the remote is a little temperamental and you have to point it exactly at the right part of the TV otherwise it wont work.

Picture Quality : Once correctly calibrated provides a very clean and precise image.
Sound Quality : Impressive for built in speakers.
Menu System : Fiddly at first, but useful once you get used to it.
Extras: Freesat HD is a great bit of investment for the future once all the analogue transmitters are decommissioned.
-
Picture Quality : Full control of image quality not available to the end user, unless you get into the installer menus.
Sound Quality : Can be a little bass heavy even with the bass levels down and the treble right up.
Menu System : Slow to switch AV sources.
Extras : AVCHD player via SD memory card slot is very picky, will only work with certain camcorder footage.

We shopped around for quite a while before deciding to buy this model, and I'm extremely happy to say we made the right decision. The picture quality is exceptional, and HD football blows your mind! I've felt as if I was on the pitch with the players! (I wasn't a football fan before!) We have this TV mounted on the wall and it looks fantastic, its just like sitting in the cinema. The sound quality is fantastic even our dog reacts to any animal sounds and she never did that with our old tv. Buy this - you wont be disappointed.

“freesat” is a new digital satellite service that offers free HD (High-definition) TV programmes. With PZ81 series with freesat built-in, You can enjoy sharp pictures, vivid colours, multi-channel sound, and various services with the interactive contents.
Intelligent Frame Creation achieves excellent moving picture resolution and flicker-less images. With 50Hz video signal input, the Intelligent Frame Creation achieves high moving picture resolution even in fast-motion scenes. This function makes new frame that was calculated by speed and direction of motion. It allows natural frame-to-frame transitions to occur for smooth motion images with high resolution.
Every image is richly expressive from bright scenes, such as scorching desert landscapes, to dark cave scenes. Contrast is enhanced by the new Real Black Drive system (a pre-discharge control system) and a higher base luminance from improvements made during panel production process. The high contrast creates deep, robust blacks and reproduces scenes with a delicate balance of light and shadow.
5,120 Equivalent Steps of Gradation lends natural expression to images such as sunsets. VIERA’s large colour space covers 110% of the HDTV colour standard. This wide gamut has been achieved by an advanced panel structure and a newly developed filter, which produce richer, more vivid colouring.
VIERA Link lets you operate other connected Panasonic AV components using only the VIERA TV’s remote control unit. You can view a slideshow of your photos on VIERA’s big beautiful screen just by simply remove the SD memory card from your digital still camera, and slip it in to the slot.
