Panasonic TH-46PZ81 Reviews: Viera, 46" Screen Plasma Full HD 1080p TV

+ Stunning pictures on standard as well as high definition. Useful HDMI connection on the front fror easy connection of Xbox / PS3. Standard sound is also good.

- You would have to be really picky to say anthing was bad, any negative points go to 8 or 9 out of 10 and not 10!

+ Good picture quality. Built in Freesat (and free HD on BBC and SOMETIMES ITV) Sleek design. VERY easy to set up and use...only took ten minutes out of the box to be up and running. Can't comment on the sound because I am using a Panasonic home theatre system, however the Vierra connectivity is brilliant. I've never had a Plasma TV before but am VERY impressed with the picture quality etc. especially when the sun is shining. Other TV's I've had needed the curtains closed on sunny days but this one works just as well on a sunny day as a dull one. The preset picture settings are a godsend and mean you don't have to spend hours adjusting contrast etc to get the best picture.

- The stand is a bit lumpy and unattractive which spoils the overall impression of the TV as a piece of furniture. The shiny black surround attracts dust at an alarming rate and requires dusting several times a day (the cloth they supply is useless) The on off switch on the remote is a little temperamental and you have to point it exactly at the right part of the TV otherwise it wont work.

+ Everything we wanted, except for a remote that is pointless if you have sky.

+ Simple to use and set up. SD picture quality is very good. The HD picture quality is very good too. Colours are bright.

- I have seen sharper HD picture quality but usually this means that the SD picture quality is not so good.

+ the picture quality of this television is very good , the hd pictures from the free sat and sky hd are very good,some of the sd pictures on some sky chanels are not brilliant but for a big screen the television overall is better than i expected.

- there could be another hdmi port at the back of the tv.

- It wants to reset the unbuilt freesat channels every time you switch it on.
The black frame is lovely but collects dust at am alarming rate which means you are constantly cleaning it.
Both minor things but picture more than makes up for it.

+ The picture quality is superb, when used with a blu ray player the images become almost life like, i already had a 26inch panasonic lcd and this plasma blows that away. stunning.

Sound Quality : Can be a little bass heavy even with the bass levels down and the treble right up.
Menu System : Slow to switch AV sources.
Extras : AVCHD player via SD memory card slot is very picky, will only work with certain camcorder footage.

- Thin screens will probably take over and become more popular in the future which will make it easier to handle, this is a heavy piece of equipment. however, it will take some beating to compete with the quality that this has.

+ We shopped around for quite a while before deciding to buy this model, and I'm extremely happy to say we made the right decision. The picture quality is exceptional, and HD football blows your mind! I've felt as if I was on the pitch with the players! (I wasn't a football fan before!) We have this TV mounted on the wall and it looks fantastic, its just like sitting in the cinema. The sound quality is fantastic even our dog reacts to any animal sounds and she never did that with our old tv. Buy this - you wont be disappointed.

- I cant think of anything bad to say about it, other than it attracts the dust and I have to dust it more than I would dust anything else in the lounge!!!! A small price to pay for a bit of luxury!

+ picture quality is excellent,sound quality is ok but when played through surround system really is excellent

- when watching certain programs the back ground seams to be out of focus.the worst thing is when watching football and the ball is kicked into the air it seams to blend in with the crowd and you loose sight of it.

- When using WII have to put leads at front of TV

+ Excellent for free sat but not full compliant with the DVB specification for teresterial. Will decode Irish DTT radio channels but not tv after a change to the standard. It worked pefrect for MPEG4 DTT but after a technical change to the standard it no longer picks up MPEG4 TV but still MPEG4 DTT radio.

- Pannasonic customer support and technical service . Never will purchace a Pannasonic ever again.

+ Good looking set. I already have a panasonic 3 year old 42" set and this new 46" set seems only slightly bigger overall.

- I feel my 422 set has a better picture.
