After seeing the price of very ordinary mass-produced bread go up and up, we followed recommendations and bought the SD255. The overall quality of the machine is excellent and, most importantly, the bread made is better than anything found in the Supermarket with the advantage that the aroma of baking bread fills the house. Even using bread mixes if time is short produces a loaf that is at least as good as good quality bought loaves. Programming is instinctive and raisin allows perfect seeded loaves to be produced with little additional effort.
-
Cakes & teabreads less successful largely as they look unattractive with the imprint of the lining paper needed for the machine. Bread tin's non stick coating is rapidly marked up and is particularly affected if using rye or seeded recipes. XL loaves too high for most toasters and test bread knife skills. These are minor moans when weighed against the quality of the machine and the resultant product.

It really makes a lovely loaf of bread, It is quick and easy to use and the receipe book is clear and easy to read with some really lovely receipes.

Sometimes the machine doesn't always cook a good loaf if the timer has been used, the plastic casing on the machine by the vent is discolouring after constant use. I have still not been able to make a really good gluten free loaf yet, but still trying new receipes.

The best breadmaker ever. Makes delicious, light, wholemeal bread - which is not easy. Great roll and baguette dough which bakes perfectly every time. Excellent pizza dough. The only failure I've had is when I forgot to add the water!
-
The seed dispenser is great and makes it possible to add seeds, nuts, herbs etc. automatically - however some seeds do damage the non-stick surface.

The 3 different sizes (M L XL) are not that much different, only the height of the loaf shows taller but the width and length of the loaf always remains the same. It would be better if there are actually 3 different baking bucket sizes for M, L and XL, or the bucket is designed in such a way that there is an insertable metal sheet to compartmentalise the bucket according to the loaf size required.

Hi... THis is my second Panasonice bread maker. The first I wore out with use. For the most part it does what it says on the tin. Would I buy it again, you bet I would.
-
Cleaning the dough paddle. It needs a tiny brush which should be in the initial kit. The footprint is a a bit inconvenient as compared with previous one we had, It is deeper so it uses up more of the useful space on the worktop. And finally the beeper just isn`t loud enough.

No glass window to see the bread. I would prefer a wider machine than taller machine to get a wide loaf rather than tall - expect this is due to saving surface space.

Personally, I prefer the shape and metal casing of the previous model. Have Panasonic just changed the design for the sake of it as so often happens these days? Recipes have also changed slightly from the previous model and the bread is not better for it.

As my husband is a chef and an accomplished baker he has been banging on about us getting a bread maaker for ages cos we go through a huge amount of bread and its getting very expensive. Only the best for my little darlings!!?? So I gave in... read the reviews and this one seemes by far the best do bit the bullet and ordered it. Small shopping trip for the ingredients etc - five minutes to read instructions ... 5 minutes to put together ingredients in tin and few hours later house smelling wonderful and we sit eating lovely warm bread. FAB. We are tweaking the sandwich recipe a little each time to get it the way we would like it but not a bad loaf yet! Oh and then 2 mins to clean it! Its easy - and I'm very much a "more than four ingredients and/or steps and it aint happening" kinda cook - really, really, easy - and I'm experimenting with all the Italian recipes too. I love it, kids sceptical cos its not Warburtons but hey they'll get there and I'm saving a fortune - I think it works out at about 45-50 pence per loaf. Seriously buy one!!
-
Sometimes the mixing paddle gets stuck in the bottom of the loaf but its easy to get out and you cant make another loaf straight away as you have to wait for it to cool down first but this is only a pain when you get over-exited and carried away in fresh bread mode!!!! (and it doesn't take long to cool down)

Only capable of making few recipes automatically. Final bread quality doesn't turn out well; crust already crispy but interior of bread still requires more cooking unless you put extra yeast than usual. Sometimes bread turns out half burn on the lower side of the bread! Machine is unable to do any other mixing functions besides bread making. A very big item taking up lots of space for a very limited function.

The instructions, although very clear and helpful, do not explain why some bakes take 2 hours whilst others take 5. Without that guidance all their pre-determined options take out a bit of user's choice. I also found that their extra large recipe came very close to spilling over the top when it rose. These are very minor points. I am pleased with my research - I have bought the best breadmaker on the market.

Used nut dispensor the other day and some of the nuts seemed to fall outside bread container and burnt on element, made it a bit more difficult clean out and was a bit smelly (burnt nuts)

bread is delicious

if you accidentally put in the wrong instructions, there's no cancel option once the machine has started.
Turning it off at the plug for over 10 minutes & following the instructions as per the manual does NOT work

Just really happy with the overall experience of this breadmaker. I have never used one before, but now we never buy bread at all! It is really easy to use and the timer makes it great for having fresh bread in the morning. Also, the size of the loaves are perfect as you never have too much..it all gets eaten up. Found the recipes really useful too as had no idea what to do when I first got the machine. My first loaf was perfect and every one since has been too. Even using just the dough programme as well now for rolls and my daughter just loves them. It is wonderful to make food that you know is nutritious and has no bad stuff added.

The only, very minor thing is that the blade can get stuck sometimes, but hey...life ain't perfect. Just bread!!

I find the product easy to use and gives very good results. To date it has been very reliable in keeping with other Panasonic products I have and which are much older.

Very quick and easy to make delicious bread. I can only have rye and or spelt bread so the rye mode is a godsend. Would definitely recommend!

There's always a little bit of flour on the outside of the same corner of the loaf. I have tried using a little less flour but that hasn't helped. My scales may be out as they're very old so might be just me.
