Small camera that easily fits into your pocket. Excellent zoom and video.
I purchased this camera to replace my TZ1 that sadly got damaged. The TZ8 is far superior to my original. - Bad points:
- A little annoying that the lens cap does not close when using the preview mode.

Excellent for macro shots - has produced superb photos of insects. The Intelligent Auto setting (the red 'iA' on the dial) makes things very easy, as you don't have to manually change to Macro mode - the camera does it for you (also avoids the problem of forgetting to change the camera mode back after taking macro shots, as I used to do with my Olympus Camedia).
Colours - in all circumstances - are very good indeed.
The zoom facility is excellent. Got a wonderful photo of a Greater Spotted Woodpecker absolutely sharp -though my kitchen window! Also took a great video of Jet Ants using the zoom. - Bad points:

You can't delete photos from the camera via your computer after downloading them from the camera. (I can do this with my Olympus Camedia).
So far, I haven't managed to get any good indoor shots using flash when on the Intelligent Auto setting - they have all been a bit (or a lot) out of focus, even when there is obviously sufficient ambient light for the camera to focus and I have slightly pressed the exposure button (to allow the camera to focus) before actually taking the photo. I don't have this problem with my Olympus Camedia.
