We've only used the camera a few times so far so not really used any of the features, but from what we've seen its a cracking bit of kit. It's a little chunky compared to our old Lumix, but thats not a bad thing because we knew it had a far superior lens and zoom and we didn't want a tiny compact. Our pictures are predominently of our 3 year old daughter (who doesn't stay still), so I was massively supprised that there has so far been no blurring even on Auto mode (as I haven't had a chance to play with the settings yet).
I'm very reluctant to spend money so I did my research prior to buying a new camera. I tried many different Nikon Coolpix models and Canon Ixus (especially as my wife really liked the Ixus 500), but the Lumix appeared to wipe the floor with them on demo in the shops, (using auto mode only as my wife doesn't change any settings once it's set up).
Overall very impressed - Bad points:
- Nothing bad about it at all, but if i have to put something then there is no auto rotate whilst looking at pictures, and it doesn't come with a case.

- Good points:
- Great shots, really good zoom, took to prague and got some really good shots.
- Bad points:
- on the zoom - its very hard to get still shots with no tripod or support, they all came out blurry as i was shaking because it was cold!

- Good points:
- Great little camera with no readily identifiable faults.
- Bad points:
- The instruction manual being small is difficult to read, but this was easily remedied by downloading the manual direct from the Panasonic website as a PDF document, thereby enabling enlargement.

Digital Cameras Buyers' GuideManufacturer's Description
The DMC-TZ25 incorporates a 16x optical zoom LEICA DC lens from 24mm ultra wide-angle (35mm camera equivalent: 24-384mm), featuring Nano Surface Coating technology that minimizes ghosts and flaring. The 16x optical zoom increases its power to 32x equivalent with the Intelligent Zoom. This is an extensive zoom function using digital zoom with minimum deterioration of image quality thanks to the Intelligent Resolution technology.
The 12.1-megapixel MOS sensor boasts high speed signal output and high sensitivity image recording for making many advanced features possible. This enables the camera to record 10 fps in full resolution, and full HD video. The excellent S/N ratio of MOS sensor and the Intelligent Noise Reduction system in the Venus Engine makes both photos and videos shot at any sensitivity levels from low to high with outstanding clearness. The DMC-TZ25 also boasts approx.0.1 sec Light Speed AF that helps catching even the most fleeting photo opportunities.
The DMC-TZ25 is capable of recording full HD 1920 × 1080 videos in AVCHD / MP4 format. The AVCHD format excels in the compatibility with AV equipment like HDTVs or Blu-ray DiscTM players. The MP4 format has high compatibility with computers. A separate button lets you instantly start recording video without the need of extra settings. The 16x optical zoom, iA (Intelligent Auto) Mode and Creative Control are available in video recording. Videos also come with the high-quality sound system of Dolby® Digital Creator.
The POWER O.I.S. (Optical Image Stabilizer) boasts double repression power compared to the MEGA O.I.S.. It is particularly effective for a low-frequency vibration, which is physically generated when pressing the shutter button or when shooting at night with a slow shutter speed. You get bright photos without blurring even from handheld shooting at slow shutter speeds. The Active Mode effectively suppresses blur in video recording especially at wide-angle while walking or playing with children.
The Creative Control comprehends 10 filters: Expressive, Retro, High Key, Low Key, Sepia, High Dynamic, Dynamic Monochrome, Toy Effect, Soft Focus and Miniature Effect. In the Miniature Effect, the video is played back in 10x fast-forwarding making it more comical to watch. With the Creative Retouch, you can add different effect by applying one of 6 filters even in playback mode. The Panorama Shot Mode makes it is possible to shoot horizontal / vertical panoramic images. The 3D Photo Mode produces a 3D image in the camera.
