Panasonic HDC-SD10 Reviews: Panasonic HD camcorder

+ Small light and so easy to use an 8 year old can do it (I tested it on an 8 year old). Fits in my pocket. Stablisation is very good. A good first video camera.

- Minor gripes: Slow update causes some jerkiness when panning too fast. Colour balance is a little whashed out in lower light conditions but can be corrected in manual mode. Standard battery does not last long. Major gripe: Not about the camera as such but making copies to send to friends and family that they can actually open is difficult. I spent hours web searching and configuring before I managed to get the movies to open in windows media player (and even then the sound is slightly out of synch). The bundled software is user hostile but will allow the movies to be saved to disk.

- Very poor picture quality in low light levels, have tried a few settings with same poor results, i bought this to record my newborn which doesnt always work with bright lights

- You have to manually open the lens shutter which can be a pain if your in a rush to catch something.

- Battery life. Hard to view monitor in bright sunlight.

- Should come with the mini HDMI lead to connect into the TV as its supposed to be a HD camcorder instead it supplies all the leads you don't need.

+ A present for my wife, so I am going by what she has told me. Seems very simple to use and does everything my wife wants it for. Very compact for her hand but maybe a little small for mine, although I have quite big hands.

- The only thing approaching a bad point is that my wife has not been able to download footage to the computer, though I have to point out that she has not opened the instruction manual for anything yet.

+ Excellent product, light weight, brilliant picture quality and so easy to use. The image stablisation is great and come in handy if you have kids running around.
