Score 8.0/10+ The quality of the playback on DVDs is very goo.
- It takes a while to start up and switch off but that is due to having the internal hard drive. But there aren't really any bad points that I know of.

Score 9.0/10+ Superb picture quality when connected to tv with hdmi. Very easy to set up and works well with Panasonic tv.
- Don't know of any bad points on the machine at the moment, although the Instruction manual from Panasonic leaves much to be desired. Still trying to fathom large parts of it.

Score 8.0/10+ I've only used the best quality recording mode so far and the picture playback is excellent. The electronic programme guide is easy to use for both viewing and recording. I'm usually a bit useless when it comes to fancy technology but so far I've found the instruction booklet quite easy to understand and the remote is for the most part quite intuitive. I've only had the product for about a month so the rating on reliability is largely meaningless. Overall this machine is a huge step up on my old DVD player and Video recorder. I particularly like the pause live TV function for those times when you've just settled down to watch something and the phone rings. Very happy so far.
- If you put the machine into low energy standby mode it does take quite a time (say 30seconds) to load up once switched on again, but you'd need to be pretty impatient to see this as a big problem.

Score 8.0/10+ very good recording to hard drive. play back very good.Have not recorded to disc yet. Remote good able to operate tv as well as recorder.Easy to set up and start recording after a short time. I think the instruction book could have been made easier to understand.
- I found instruction book a bit hard to understand, but after a few attemps I got things working ok.

Richard, Tadley , “normally cope with Hifi”
Score 1.0/10+ It looks nice
- The instructions are very confusing. I have it connected via SCARRT lead to a Panasonic wide/flat screen HD TV and it is very difficult to view a recording. You can often not record 1 programme and watch another. The HUMAX digibox is infinitely superior. I wish I had not bought it.

Really simple to programme the timer.
Instruction booklet is very clear and easy to follow. Initial set up is very easy.
Records Sky channels.
Had looked at an equivalent Sony machine, but this seems much simpler to use.
Haven't needed to burn any DVDs yet, there plenty of space on the hard drive.
- Takes a minute or so to switch on after being on standby.

- Big downer for a machine of this quality and cost is that the DVD tray cannot be opened using the remote have to reach down to machine

Score 10.0/10+ Very easy to set up. Guide Plus set up straight away whereas my experience with Sony it took 24 hours
- Only has one tuner.

Score 10.0/10+ Easy to record programmes using the 'Guide' feature.

Score 10.0/10+ Good picture, easy recording. Does it's job.
-
A little slow on power saver setting, which is the price we pay for saving energy. If you want a quicker service you have to use more energy.
EPG a little unreliable in that it doesn't always update readily on all channels, which makes it difficult to plan ahead with setting up recordings.

Expert reviews for Panasonic DMR-EX768
TechRadar expert review
It may be Panasonic's entry-level DVD/HDD recorder, but the smart-looking DMR-EX768 delivers all of the essentials. Unless you're living in an area without usable Freeview coverage, that is; this budget marvel, like the rest of Panasonic's digital-ready range, lacks an analogue tuner.Missing featuresProvision has been made for external RGB Scart sources like digital cable and Sky, but while the EX768 takes advantage of the increasingly-familiar GuidePlus EPG, external IR control of set-top boxes is unsupported. Also missing are the USB ports, i.Link port, SD card slots, CD-ripping musi…
