Score 10.0/10+ There are some really nice features and the pictures are excellent. The user interface is well designed and the "intelligent auto" feature is generally very intelligent.
- The zoom and mode switches are a bit flimsy, but not too bad. Whilst the HD video is excellent, the accompanying software is, quite frankly, a dog.

Score 10.0/10+ Great range of functions, all of which it performs well. 12x optical zoom is quite quick and useful. AVCHD lite movies are excellent quality for a still camera, not high def in quality but easily standard def on a HDTV. Takes good macro photo's and IA works well in most situations. Writes to SDHC very quickly. Stereo microphone works well.
- The mode dial moves easily and the camera won't do anything until it's in place. Zoom is slow in movie mode. Battery life is not great, probably only takes about 80-100 photo's but the battery charges quickly.

Score 10.0/10+ Really easy to use
- The camera does not come with a case, screen protector or a very large memory card and these can all add considerably to the price.

Score 9.0/10+ There's just so many to list... went out on a day trip to Go Ape and took this camera round with me. and filmed people and myself jumping off things and going down zip wires, All i can say for such a easy camera to use its photos and videos are out of this world.. if your looking for one at this price and size then this is the one for you.. Hope it helps
- i would say to get a memory card made by PANASONIC as i went on holiday with a diffrent make of memory card and after a few days of taking photos it stopped working, this is nothing to do with the TZ7... I'm just saying don't go cheap on HDSC....!!!!

Score 9.0/10+ Solidly built. Excellent optics, wide to zoom. Reasonably quick "Warm Up" Ergonomics good, no Buttons to press accidentally.
- No camera Case Included. Owners Manual not easy to assimilate.

Easy to use.
Excellent long zoom (up to 85.5x on lower resolution settings with optical, extra optical and digital zoom).
Very fast at previewing photos.
- No viewfinder, can be difficult to use LCD in bright light.

Martin, Orsett, Essex , “Keen amateur”
Score 9.0/10+ Everything else, especially wide angle lens and ease to switch to video mode.
- Fails, like nearly all compacts now, to incorporate view finder which makes it difficult to take shots in bright sunlight. Would prefer snapshot button on far right of camera and option wheel (which moves a bit too easily) to the left of it.

GRAM, GLASGOW , “Keen amateur”
Score 9.0/10+ The HD video capture is superb,as is the pictures.
- None so far!

Kevin, Port Seton , “Keen amateur”
Score 10.0/10+ Very good quality images. The camera is extremely smart - makes adjustments automatically to ensure you get the best result - so long as it is set to do this automatically of course. In practice, I find that pictures taken in poor light and of moving subjects are excellent without having to spend much time correcting images on the pc with photo software.
- The catch is slightly flimsy on the cover for the memory card slot - hasn't caused any problems however. I had read other reviews saying the same but I took the chance and I am happy with the product.

Diane, Bristol , “Keen amateur”
Score 8.0/10+ Compact, excellant zoom and picture quality
- A lot of features to get used to. It closes itself down, which would be good if it also turned itself off as well. Remember to turn it off yourself the battery didn't take long to go flat.

Expert reviews for Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ7
TechRadar expert review
Switch on the Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ7 and the first thing that strikes you is the pin-sharp quality of the 3-inch LCD, which couples an uncommonly high resolution of 460k pixels with the ability to adjust brightness automatically to suit ambient lighting conditions. Getting past the LCD and into the body of the camera, there's plenty of imaging power on tap for both stills and video, thanks to Panasonic's provision of twin-CPUs. An excellent 12x zoom lens stretches from 25mm to powerful 300mm telephoto focal lengths. Sharpness is extremely good throughout and, at the telephoto end,…

25mm Wide-angle 12x Optical Zoom LEICA DC Lens with HD Movie Recording in AVCHD Lite and iA (Intelligent Auto) Mode
The new TZ series packs a LEICA DC VARIO-ELMAR lens with 12x optical zoom into a compact body. This versatile photographic tool lets you shoot everything from sweeping vistas at the 25mm wide-angle setting to dynamic 300mm telephoto shots. And the lens system’s exquisite rendering ability lets you capture even the subtle nuances of the sights and scenes in your travels.
TZ7 records HD movies (1280 × 720-pixels) in AVCHD Lite, which lets you shoot beautiful HD video with almost twice the recording time compared to the conventional Motion JPEG. Optical zoom can be used when shooting motion images. TZ7 is also the world’s first compact camera to feature Dolby® Digital Stereo Creator, which records dynamic, true-to-life audio that brings out the power of the HD video. The wind cut function minimises distracting sound from the background during audio recording.TZ7 is also the world’s first compact camera to feature Dolby® Digital Stereo Creator, which records dynamic, true-to-life audio that brings out the power of the HD video. The wind cut function minimises distracting sound from the background during audio recording.
iA (Intelligent Auto) Mode makes it easy for anyone to take beautiful recordings. Photo iA Mode controls MEGA O.I.S., Intelligent ISO Control, Intelligent Scene Selector, Face Recognition, Intelligent Exposure and AF Tracking. The new Face Recognition function memorises faces automatically and works to optimise both focus and exposure settings by prioritising on the registered person’s face. Movie iA is also available, controlling MEGA O.I.S., Intelligent Scene Selector, Face Detection AF/AE, and Intelligent Exposure.
The DMC-TZ7’s LCD features a large 3.0-inch, 460,000-dot resolution, and a wide-viewing angle that lets you frame your shot in a variety of ways for both shooting and viewing. LUMIX’s acclaimed Intelligent LCD function also automatically adjusts the brightness in 11 steps according to shooting conditions. This LCD provides sharp, clear images in virtually all shooting situations, ranging from nighttime to bright daylight scenes and from low-angle to high-angle shooting. It lets you share the fun of viewing images with family and friends.
The Venus Engine HD, with its twin CPUs, has exceptional processing capabilities and low power consumption, enabling both HDMI support and HD movie recording in AVCHD Lite. It features effective noise reduction even at high ISO sensitivity levels. Connect to a Panasonic VIERA via an optional HDMI mini-cable, and use VIERA Link to run mixed slideshows of still and motion pictures. Or, insert your SDHC/SD Memory Card into an HDTV equipped with VIERA Image Viewer (SD Card slot) to playback pictures and movies.
