+ Camera is exactly what I wanted, and the memory card is good

- The case, the camera is a tight squeeze into this case and it seems bulky. Keep undoing the Velcro to get at the camera, which is in the zip pocket, very annoying.

+ Compact size, great zoom feature and standard wide angle gives nice panoramic outdoors shots. Video quality ok for playback on a PC monitor. Sound quality very good for a compact unit. Brought this for a holiday in Norway to capture the views and not dissapointed with the results. Still finding out how to use all the fancy modes but the intelligent auto does a good job if your in a hurry and just want to capture the moment.

- mode dial turns itself round as noted by most reviews

There are 2 main types of camera: The SLR and the Compact. SLR stands for Single Lens Reflex. SLR cameras use a prism to reflect the exact image as seen through the lens and so offers a more accurate viewfinder. The new TZ series packs a LEICA DC VARIO-ELMAR lens with 12x optical zoom into a compact body. This versatile photographic tool lets you shoot everything from sweeping vistas at the 25mm wide-angle setting to dynamic 300mm telephoto shots. And the lens system’s exquisite rendering ability lets you capture even the subtle nuances of the sights and scenes in your travels.

iA mode activates six detection and correction functions – MEGA O.I.S. (Optical Image Stabilizer) to compensate hand-shake, Intelligent ISO Control to detect subject movement, Face Detection AF/AE to focus on faces in the frame and remove unwanted red-eye, Intelligent Scene Selector to select the optimal scene mode automatically, Intelligent Exposure to correct the brightness level, and AF Tracking to continually track a moving subject and keep it in focus.

The DMC-TZ6’s 2.7-inch LCD has a total of 230,000 dots for high resolution. It features the Intelligent LCD function. The Auto Power LCD function increases the backlight brightness in 11 steps according to the ambient light intensity. At the highest of these 11 steps, the LCD backlight becomes approx. 1.4 times brighter than normal. This makes both shooting and viewing photos easier and more convenient.
