+ Light weight and ease of handling. Good size of display coupled with sharp images and information.
Wide angle lens coupled with zoom range is excellent for landscape photography.
The operating instructions are very explicit and comprehensive. These comments are initial impressions due to lack of time for operational experience.

- Digital display can be difficult to use in bright sunlight. Absence of optical viewfinder makes this critical under
certain conditions.
The Mode dial is too easily moved inadvertantly and would benefit from being slightly stiffer to operate.

+ easier to understand and use the features than other cameras . superb quality of image and build , really hard to fault in any way . I wanted a compact that gave top quality and a wide angle lens but was easy for the rest of the family to use , this camera has fulfilled those needs perfectly . It has allthe features I need without useless gimicks .

- it seems if i want a spare battery then i have to buy genuine , as the chaeper generic brands don't work withy the latest firmware in this camera . However the battery life has exceeded my expectations by far even using flash a lot so the battery really isn't too important.

+ Lots of different options to learn but, it's point and shoot is good and takes a lot of hard work out of the equation for a good picture.

- Despite a good solid build, it is very surprising how easy sand can penetrate behind the lens and as such, make it malfunction which it sadly is now doing having dropped it at the beach. Up to then, it was functioning perfectly and producing really good results.

SLR cameras use a prism to reflect the exact image as seen through the lens and so offers a more accurate viewfinder. The new TZ series packs a LEICA DC VARIO-ELMAR lens with 12x optical zoom into a compact body. This versatile photographic tool lets you shoot everything from sweeping vistas at the 25mm wide-angle setting to dynamic 300mm telephoto shots. And the lens system’s exquisite rendering ability lets you capture even the subtle nuances of the sights and scenes in your travels.

iA mode activates six detection and correction functions – MEGA O.I.S. (Optical Image Stabilizer) to compensate hand-shake, Intelligent ISO Control to detect subject movement, Face Detection AF/AE to focus on faces in the frame and remove unwanted red-eye, Intelligent Scene Selector to select the optimal scene mode automatically, Intelligent Exposure to correct the brightness level, and AF Tracking to continually track a moving subject and keep it in focus.

The DMC-TZ6’s 2.7-inch LCD has a total of 230,000 dots for high resolution. It features the Intelligent LCD function. The Auto Power LCD function increases the backlight brightness in 11 steps according to the ambient light intensity. At the highest of these 11 steps, the LCD backlight becomes approx. 1.4 times brighter than normal. This makes both shooting and viewing photos easier and more convenient.
