+ zoom range from true wideangle to good telephoto.Image stabilisation works well.High sensitivity.Useful shadow exposure compensation facility.Feels solid and well made.

+ Great camera available at a reasonable price. Does what is says on the box and does not rely on specialised lithium rechargable batteries. You do not have to worry about flat batterys just keep a pack of standard AA's handy.

- Movie clips appear to be restricted to 40 seconds. Don't know why. Also you can select movie clip sound or variable zoom but not both.

+ This is a versatile camera that can be used as a point and shoot or to give the user control over a range of factors that affect the image. For the price, it is packed with features. Most importantly, the image quality is very good indeed.

- A bit slow between shots.

There are 2 main types of camera: The SLR and the Compact. SLR stands for Single Lens Reflex. SLR cameras use a prism to reflect the exact image as seen through the lens and so offers a more accurate viewfinder. SLR cameras have detachable lenses offering greater flexibility if you wish to take a variety of different photographs. Compact cameras have a built in lens and an ‘above lens’ viewfinder which is less accurate but they are often cheaper, more sleekly designed and easier to carry anywhere with you to capture that moment perfectly without having to fiddle with complex settings or a bag full of lenses.
