+ The MJU Tough 8000 is an awesome camera! It boasts a wide angle lens for panoramic shots which can be pieced together automatically in the camera. Under water capabilities, which was the main reason I wanted Olympus.
Plus, it's solid! Good picture quality/video quality, very clear features and pretty scene selections.
The only reason I didn't give a 10 on the features is because I used to have a Canon, and I miss the colour accent function. Otherwise, I am very happy! Under water shots (and video) are amazing!

- You cannot zoom while making video (needs to be set before)
It may not break if you drop it, but just don't drop it on your foot because it's not light!
Nice unique appearance but having a lens in the corner can cause accidental finger-in-shot.
Also, don't drop it in the ocean because it will sink fast, and although 10metres resistance is deep, it won't stop.

+ fantastic picture quality once you get used to playing with the settings. and the waterproof, tough casing mean im happy to take it out on the worse days in snowdonia or the lakes!

- slow to take a picture and slow to turn on but this is only a minor problem!

+ Can be used easily and effectively on different "scenes" but Auto is sometimes a little blurred. Panorama setting is great.

- Processing time between shots is slow although to be fair there maybe ways around this that I have't discovered yet.

+ I love everything about this camera - for someone who wants to not have to worry about it getting wet or dropped, it's absolutely perfect.

- The only thing I wish it let you do is manually adjust shutter speed and aperture because it's not brilliant at getting great depth of field for landscapes, but it's a point and shoot so can't have everything otherwise why would anyone buy an SLR? :)

+ Strong and waterproof - can't scratch the lense. I bought a plastic stick on cover for the LED and it makes the thing bomb proof. Ran a mountain marathon weekend 2 weeks ago with it in my pocket out of a case. It got very wet but performed brilliantly

- A little fidly when changing functions but thats just picking faults

Expert reviews for Olympus µ[MJU:] Tough-8000

TechRadar expert review

Cameras that will not self-destruct when seriously wet are not new, but some are better at taking a good soaking than others. The real deal, however, is a camera that will keep on working when completely submerged. The machismo of these Commando-style cameras is measured by how deep you can take them beneath the brine. As any swimming pool diver will know, water pressure builds up fast as you head below the surface. The Olympus µ Tough 8000 can hold its breath and keep on shooting at depths of up to 10 metres. This makes a great gadget for surfers, sailors, snorkellers and accident…

This is a camera that means business. It\'s able to withstand 10m of water pressure, drops from 2m and being crushed under 100kg. That\'s around 16 stone, so depending on your burger intake, you can probably tread on it without fear of damage.
