Score 9.0/10+ Fairly decent battery life even when browsing web (as long as you don't use wlan), big clear screen, camera is reasonable if not great - this is a music phone after all - and has good video recording, symbian S60v5 o/s very stable and available apps are growing all the time. supplied with very practical cover/pouch which has rigid front and back to protect the screen and elasticated sides making it easy to slide in and out. Overall a very nice phone for people who want a touchscreen with a little of everything.
- As above the wlan drains the battery really quickly. more annoying than bad but no smilies that i can find and a little fiddly using virtual keyboard - i've got big fingers so have to use the stylus for typing. No flight mode. Instructions could be better as does not cover all supplied apps.

The amount of storage is brilliant.
The media playback is really simple, and very good quality.
The camera is very good and the applications to improve the pictures while still on the device are fun and easy to use. I especially like the clip art function.
The built in stylus is handy as sometimes just using the screen is a bit fiddly, I also like the plectrum, it attatches easily to the exterior of the case and is easy to use, not to mention good looking!
-
The battery life is not that long if you want to use it as a multimedia phone, ie. watdhing media files and listening to music.
I use this phone to keep my daughter amused as well as myself, so using it as a substitute for a portable t.v was one of the reasons I chose the Nokia 5800. It does last a while, but an extended battery life would be greatly appreciated.

Score 10.0/10+ Its a magnifiecnt phone, really singing and dancing. It takes some time to get used to all the gadgets that are installed(I'm still finding them). Sound quality is excellent when either talking or listening, I've been told that when I use it in the car the person I was talking to could not hear any background noise even though I was moving in traffic and the air con was on.The camera is good too, havent used the video facility yet. Music player is excellent too, really really glad that I got this phone after considering others. The four main contacts on screen facility is excellent enabling you to email, call or text without going into menu contacts. Fantastic phone I cannot say enough good things about it.
- Sometimes when switching it on the screen freezes and you have to remove the battery to get it going again. The screens not good in sunlight you cannot see anything on it.

The best thing about this phone is that it doesn't weigh a ton! It's light, easy to carry in your pocket, and to my experience, the battery life is far better than I envisaged. I've gone 2 nights without charging - fair enough, I haven't had heavy use of it, mainly just texting and a few calls during that time, but considering my place of work has the worst signal in history (which wears the battery down faster), I think that's pretty good to go 2.5 days without a charge.
Sound quality is excellent - comparing to my brother's iPhone, the Nokia blows it out the water without doubt. The 8GB memory card is great for storing music - it's my new iPod alternative! Saves carrying two things around.
Internet connection is generally very good, rarely dropping the connection when linked to my home wireless. Occasionally, if not linked to a good wireless (the free wi-fi in shopping centres, etc) it can be a little slow, but does the job I need it to do.
GPRS is ok - has taken me on some bizarre routes once or twice, but has saved me on a number of occasions when trying to find certain shops or when my Tom Tom battery has gone!
Camera is good. Picture quality is decent and yes, whilst it's not a 8meg pix, it does the job. In my opinion, if you want a higher meg pixels, buy a camera... I got a phone for the main phone features, not really for the camera.
There are a few good applications you can download from OVI and Mosh, but unfortunately, just doesn't compare to an iPhone in that respect.
If you're looking for a phone which is simple to use, light, looks good and has pretty good features, this is the one.
If you want a full-on phone with many applications and everything you could wish for - go iPhone.
- It's just not as WOW as I thought. There's nothing particularly bad about this phone, it just doesn't bowl me over like I imagined (I guess it's new phone blues - damn the advertisers making it sound invincible!!! ;o) ) I guess I'm comparing to the iPhone - don't. They're not meant to be compared. From my own experience, the iPhone is still streets ahead of other phones. I'm not disappointed I chose the Nokia, just kind of wish I had the iPhone too... I'm not a tech-savvy girl, just an ordinary customer, so who knows whether I could've got the best out of an iPhone anyway. But if you just want a phone that performs well as a phone with some good and useful extras, get it. If you want all the Mr T apps, widgets and what-not - don't!

Anonymous verified purchaser , “Happy so far.”
Score 8.0/10+ I found this phone very easy to use once i had worked out where everything was. Navigation was very easy, the screen very clear and the touch screen was not too sensitive. The integrated stylus made using the keyboard very easy. Most impressed with my first Nokia phone. Included software is excellent too.
- There is a slight delay when you turn the phone to use the widescreen mode and it would have been better if this worked when the phone was tilted in any direction. Had a problem accessing my hotmail through web and walk. It just would not connect to it.

Score 9.0/10+ The screen is a great size for watching films. The standard headphone jack lets you use you own headphones.
- The auto rotate is verrrrry slow to alter the screen. Touch screen is also not very responsive. Not many applications are compatiable with this phone yet.

Score 8.0/10+ The easy navigation of the phone is brilliant, the icons are also brilliant, big and easy to touch with just your finger.
- The texting qwerty keyboard doesnt recognise as well as it should when you use your fingers, the keys seem to be a bit small, but you can get around it by using the stylus

Score 9.0/10+ The nokia 5800 is stylish, attractive and well worth the buy. The sound devices are great and give off a great volume. Features are very good easy to determine and to opperate. All the devices are quick and can log into them with ease. All round its really a great mobile.
- There are no real bad points, the phone i wanted for all my uses its got. The only thing which im a bit upset about is the battery life which is really useless. Im having to charge it every 2nd day.

Score 8.0/10+ Sleek design, very good speaker, music organiser easy to use and get tracks on with, battery life great compared to others in same price bracket.
- No cover flow, touch screen is a bit stylus dependant, cant install 3rd party software that easy.

Score 8.0/10+ The phone looks good!!! Its very responsive to the touch, and very easy to use. I was worried about texting on this, but its so simple from the start.
- Battery life is very poor, but coming from a Nokia N95 to this, Imused to poor battery life.

- battery life is really bad

Stevie, Leeds
Score 9.0/10+ The camera is good, the screen is clear.
- With the phone been touchscreen it tends to log onto the internet, or call people with a very slight touch. It obviously goes onto your bill when it's accidental and sometimes you don't notice straight away. Also, it freezes sometimes.
purchased 18 Feb 2009
Kate, London
Score 8.0/10+ It's pretty basic to use as Nokia use the same menus for all their phones. Comes with a case so you don't scratch the screen.
- Video calling does not work.

Expert reviews for Nokia 5800 XpressMusic
TechRadar expert review
It's taken a while for Nokia to deliver its first post-iPhone touchscreen handset, but with the release of the 5800 XpressMusic, Nokia is now firmly in the touch control game. The first handset to be built on the latest touch-operated 5th Edition of Nokia's S60 smartphone platform, the 5800 XpressMusic packs some heavyweight feature punch. It may line up as Nokia's flagship music phone, but it has a set of functionality more akin to the Nseries high-end phone roster.Generous packageTouchscreen action is centred on its large 3.2-inch touch display, but under the bonnet the 5800 XpressMus…

After years of waiting, Nokia has finally entered the touchscreen arena, but is it worth the wait? We get touchy feely to find out. The Nokia 5800, as it is now called (it used to be referred to as the Tube), is the first consumer-focused touchscreen handset from the Finnish company. Compact in size, the phone sports a 3...
