+ Fairly easy to set-up. Just run the wizard and accept the defaults and you should be away. Has all the bells and whistles that you would expect and can support up to 4 SSID's which is very nice. I like the idea that it checks for firmware updates every time you log into it. Wireless range is greatly improved over the 3Com router that it replaces. The wireless side can prove a little more protracted if you choose the change the default values set by the wizard. This router is configurable to the n'th degree and there are a number of parameters that you can change that may have an adverse effect on how it performs. You need to understand about each parameter before you change it from the default. I think that this has led to this router receiving some unfair reviews about wireless performance. Remember that it is an 802.11n warless router and you are going to need an N type card in your computer, smart phone, PDA or whatever to get the best from it. That said, it works fine with 802.11 A/B/G cards.

- two minor grumbles. It isn't wall mountable. You can stand it on it's edge with the feet provided but I really would have preferred the option to wall mount it. Not that much in the way of documentation in the box - its all on CD or the router itself. I prefer something that I can leaf back and forth through - but that’s just me.

+ Easy set up

- Unclear once set up on selecting other connection devices. Ie when I first tried to access from the laptop it couldn't find the network, it was only once I had set the wsp passwords it found it so a little confusing there.

+ Easy menu driven setup. Having a separate on/off switch is handy for this. Does come with feet so you can stand if vertically which keeps it cool. Does improve internet range a little for a bigger improvement you need a newer wireless adapter.

- Does need occasional rebooting if internet performance is bad.

Expert reviews for Netgear Wireless-N DGN2000

TechRadar expert review

Netgear was one of the first companies to launch a Draft-N wireless LAN solution and has released a range of routers to support the standard. The Wireless N Modem Router DGN2000 is the latest and is a small and compact ADSL+ router with 802.11n fitted as standard. This router is compact in design and, like the Linksys WRT610N and Sitecom 300N, has been designed to lie flat. Twin aerials protrude from the back and can be positioned to give you the best signal. Four ports on the back are limited to 10/100 Ethernet speed, and there is also a modem connection. This latter device has suppor…
