Setup was very simple
Seems faster but that might be the because it was a fresh install, time will tell.
If you are buying a new PC with a choice of Windows 7 or Vista choose Windows 7, it's Vista service pack 3 but at a price.
-
Just looks and works as if it is Vista as Vista should have been, so I feel as if I have paid twice for the same product.

Very fast startup and shutdown, includes IE8, worked far better after a completely clean install. no more constant vista crashes, though i was told it really wasn't necessary I installed an extra 500mb of ram making 1.5gb this really helped it to run a lot smoother.

Price, this should have been a free upgrade as compensation to all the people who have previously purchased and had to suffer the woes of Vista.

Easiest version of Windows I've ever installed (I've installed Win95, 98 and XP previously). It found all the drivers for my laptop automatically apart from the in built card reader drivers but these were readily available as vista drivers from laptop maker's website (HP)
Much much better than Vista which was originally on my laptop. Laptop runs much more smoothly, and as I installed the 64 bit version (both 32 bit and 64 bit were supplied) Windows is able to use all of my 4Gb RAM and not limited to about 3GB like the 32 bit Vista previously on the laptop
-
Still has User Account control like Vista which doesn't remember which programs you deem safe to allow to run.
Some compatibilty problems with old software which worked fine under Vista but refusing to run under Win 7. I use Acronis True Image 10 as a backup. This was fine under Vista but doesn't run under Win 7. However Win 7 Home Premium does have in built disc imaging software.

I was more than pleased with Windows 7, my laptop isn't the newest in the world as I've had it 3-4 years and it performs better than I thought it would do, very well in fact. All drivers were installed for me, nothing else to download, great product. I also love the fact it comes with DVD writing software, the new Snipping Tool for taking shots of part of the screen, all in all a good product.

A few bugs but ironed out with the Windows Update - thoroughly recommend.
Before buying go to the microsoft website and check that Windows 7 will work on your computer!
-
Check that your system is compatible if you are on Windows XP you have to do a special install see microsoft.com for further details.
You may have to uninstall some existing programmes before you can install Windows 7
If you have an Intel Processor you will need to go to the intel website after downloading Windows 7 for a driver update - very easy to do!

It is intuative to use. Organising open windows and frequently used programs is easy and helpfull. No problems finding an installing drivers for attached hardware which means no more finding instalation cd's and spending hours waiting to have a working Operating System. A lot of integrated windows programs we already know have been improved upon i.e. the calculator can now be used as a scientific one, etc. Basicly though, it is very up to date with new hardware, from touch screen monitors to tablet pc's. It will even work out your algebra and calculus for you.

In comparision to Windows Vista, 7 certainly seems faster and more responsive. Whilst it retains many of the good points that were included in Vista key changes under the bonnet mean that this is the best Microsoft OS since Windows Xp. I installed from scratch (as opposed to an upgrade) and it picked up and all of my device drivers without me having to trawl the internet or find the elusive driver disks. I'm very pleased with Windows 7 and can look forward to using it as my main OS from this moment on!

I have had fewer system crashes since installing Windows 7 and no incompatibility issues with my current programs. Games seem to perform better, as far as lag and fps go. Like the themes, fluidity of the interface, as well as a couple of new useful features (sticky notes, snipping tool). All in all, very happy.
