Good points:
It works well and nice that you dont have to go to win8. get to load the OS without all of the bloatware and all of the options you dont want.
Bad points:
Had to pay MS, I was going to go for Ubuntu but so much is wrtten for MS and it was the simple option. I would have stayed with XP given the chance.

michael,

Score 8.0/10
Good points:
Secure and the only alternative to Xp. Windows 8 is a non starter. Snipping tool and backup/image feature is good, saved me buying backup S/W. Similar to Vista, so no great learning curve. Installation was simple. I think 32bit would have worked just as well, but I've had no problems with drivers yet - Win7 just goes off and finds them if need be.
Bad points:
Only Windows Live Mail is available as a Client and believe me it is atrocious. I'm running Thunderbird, which is excellent. Interface always looks washed out in some programs, I have Win7Pro on my laptop and it is better, worth paying the extra for.
