Expert reviews for LG KG800 Chocolate

Pocket Lint expert review

According to LG, when the LG Chocolate phone (LG-KG800) launched in Korea it sold more than 300,000 units in 3 months. Here in the UK, it's become the Phone de jour of the chav set with even Wayne Rooney's girlfriend Coleen proud to be seen using one. Boasting a "hidden" LCD screen and touch-keypad controls that glow red when in use, you can see why...

Award winning design
Unique, articulate, exquisite – these are just some of the words that come to mind when you first experience the KG800’s luxurious look and feel. The KG800 is a mysterious thing concealing a screen and a heat-sensitive touchpad that glows red to show you exactly where to gently press. Not only that but if you slide the phone open it will reveal even more; a keypad and 1.3 megapixel camera with flash! With features like these, it’s no surprise that it won the coveted 2006 IF Design Award in Germany.

Hidden heat sensitive touch pad
• The unique heat-sensitive touch pad glows red when active.
• Sensitive only to a warm touch you can be sure that the touch pad won’t be activated by items in your pocket or bag.
• Navigate menus and access functions when the handset is closed.
• Touch pad dissappears when not in use, leaving a clean exterior finish on an already stunning phone."

1.3 Megapixel camera with flash
• The KG800 isn’t just a beautiful handset, slide it open and it will reveal a 1.3 megapixel camera with flash!
• Take photos up to an impressive 1280×960 in size.
• Flash
• 4 X digital zoom.
• 9-time continuous shooting feature.
• Take and send photo messages to friends and family via MMS (compatible phone required).
• Store photos and videos in the KG800’s photo album or video gallery."

A colour screen that appears when you need it
• The luxurious design of the KG800 incorporates a hidden LCD screen beneath its sleek exterior. Sliding the phone open or pressing a button will reveal the screen in all its glory.
• 256,000 colour, 176×220 TFT screen.
• Use the screen as a viewfinder for the 1.3 megapixel camera.
• Supports Photo ID so photos of contacts will appear on the screen as soon as they call.
• Customise your display with photos or wallpaper to suit your mood."

Wireless connectivity with Bluetooth
• Bluetooth technology allows wireless communication between compatible devices. Talk handsfree with a Bluetooth headset or exchange files with another Bluetooth compatible device.

Music and Video
• Play music on the move with the KG800’s music player
• Just hold the dedicated MP3/Camera button and the KG800 will launch into music player mode. Control your music with the touch pad or with the inline remote control supplied with the handset!
• The music player supports MP3, AAC, AAC+, AAC++ and WMA file formats.
• Use MP3 files as ringtones. Also supports polyphonic ringtones too.
• The KG800 records and plays video too so you can record and watch 3GP videos on your phone wherever you are.

Portable mass storage device
• Connect the KG800 to a PC using the supplied USB cable and it will become a mass storage device. Drag and drop files such as music, photos, videos and more straight to the phone and you can carry them with you wherever you go. The KG800 has 128mb of internal memory and no software is required for the PC, simply plug and play!

Tri-Band
• The KG800 supports Tri-band meaning you’ll never have to leave this beautiful phone at home when going abroad.

Email
• Send and receive emails on the move.

Embedded Java technology
