LG 50PS8000 Reviews: 50" Screen Plasma TV

+ The picture for a 50inch tv in this price range is amazing. I've thrown everything at it and it's just awesome. A friend of mine has already bought one after I showed him mine.

- None as yet. I had read about image retention being quite bad but I haven't had a problem with that at all.

+ Great clean simple design, very sleek. Picture quality is great especially with HD input from either Sky HD or Blu Ray.

- We had fun mounting the TV on ouir exisiting wall bracket, but that isn't the TV's fault!! :-)

+ love the tv was a bit dubious at first and thought the size was too big but its absolutely gorgeous

- The product had screen burn within 2 weeks (not covered under warranty) and I have had to purchase pixel protector to clear.

+ Clean frameless design, great picture quality, slender chassis

- So far - none. Easy to set up and a treat to watch

+ It is very easy to use.. Flat Glass panel with no plastic sides. Looks very nice on the wall.I think It is the best value TV in the market..

- The picture is NOT the LG50PS8000....Looks very nice except for the unneccessary bump like look at the bottom right corner. I know that is the design but that made it look bad. . Some of the inputs are behind the tv right in the middle. can be difficult to put scarts or hdmi leads in. Maybe thats with all tvs..

+ Fantastic image quality on HD material, easy to use and lovely to look at off as well as on. Endless options to fine tune picture quality and of course the THX Picture Certification are almost class leaders. USB device and bluetooth features are also nice extras. Very high contrast ratios mean good black levels and 24p payback from bluray is very smooth. Overall a fantastic value for money set that excels with HD

- Image quality can look soft when displayng freeview, but I guess a 50inch screen combined with a low resolution broadcast would have something to do with this?! The Pioneer units handle blacks better but you will be paying twice the cost for the pleaure. I Image retention could be a problem if used constantly for gaming

+ Internal speakers are awful. Other than that, very happy with picture quality for 50" plasma

+ The sound of the TV itself is excellent, the fans are barley perceptable. The image quality and contrast is outstanding and action movies or panoramas are quite brilliant.

- The built in speakers are average but to be honest, if you buy a screen like this then to do it justice you
should buy a separate amplifier and quality speakers and set up 5.1 or 7.1 DTS surround sound

+ Picture quality is simple to setup, set it to THX and it's done. For me no further adjustments were needed.

- Remote control is very directional, it has to be pointing directly at the sensor at a 90 degree angle or it doesn't work.

+ good looking plasma with blue LED effect when remote is operated. Also there is no heavy border to the screen. Easy and intuitive software. Superb picture quality in HD which is excellent for Games console. 4 HDMI ports means you can plug plenty into it - our sky and virgin media in ours together with the games console and still oom for something else.

- The 600hz claim is dubious . it's more like 50 Hz with 12 sublayers and 12x50 = 600hz. In any case the effect does seem to easily match 100hz plasma's I've seen and it gives a superb HD picture including on the Sony PS3 game console.

- connectors all stick out the back at right angles meaning you cant get really close to a wall
